I take delivery of my 992 in a few days too and while I haven't seen the actual document, my SA told me it's a "right of first refusal". That is, allow Porsche to be able to take the car back/buy it back first.
I didn't see the specifics.

But they must be doing this to prevent speculators from buying and flipping...which upsets the marketplace for us all.
Considering I am getting my 992 at MSRP *plus* a slight discount, I don't have a problem with this.
I want to stay in the Porsche family and this helps the relationship.

But, I understand others' opinion about this...that it sounds a bit too controlling and imposing. I'll wait to see all the fine print then.

Ah. Well the terms though not pleasant don't seem too bad. Rewrite them to make it ok to transfer ownership to your father in a specified time period. Though they will be curious as to what your father will do with it.

Interesting times.

Have you discussed this with the dealership?

Yes, since day 1 my SA was aware that I plan to transfer the vehicle to my father.

So have the dealer accept right of first refusal signed by your father after the surprise...

I've seen this sort of agreement on super high end stuff but never on more mainstream cars (if you can call a 911 'mainstream')

As they knew your intentions just add a carve out to allow the transfer to your dad - politely escalate above the SA, if Porsche Canada is asking for this you want the dealership advocating for you or at least happy to accept the modified agreement.

PCC is doing this for a while now (4-5 years). Was about GT cars predominantly but looks like now everything is HOT including 4S.
Re-Export to Middle East Gulf countries is a real problem. Always was. Today, due to Covid s$&@ show, you can even flip-flop a F150/Silverado after less then a year and make a profit - if educated enough to have in-demand specs.
There is always one person in a dire need that will pay $$& when supply doesn't come in.
Welcome to the world of excess and cheap money. As someone here said when it crashes it will be LOUDLY.

I think this makes sense as something to ask if I just walked into the dealership, but not when my 992 is already being built and on its way.

You have a contract for the current car and this was not part of the agreement. I would advise them that you would consider signing such an agreement for your next Porsche, not this one.
I also wonder how much pressure Porsche is putting on the dealers. Exporting new cars doesn't really hurt the dealer with the exception of the loss of potential used car sales- he already has his cut.

Yeah I think this is a fair and polite response. I just dislike how he's trying to spin this as a "good thing" for me. And the fact that it's being requested after we're well into the process.

I have done it with some cars,,, certainly the RS level. The problem is that a lot of these care are being flipped for export, a lot to China, and the dealers are concerned that if they are merely a conduit for re-export they will start to see lower allocations for Canada. I am not a flipper and never sell a car within two years. Also have a good relationship with my dealer and that is of value in the long term. Costs me nothing.
