Default Canada - Matrix lighting

For Canadian owners whose cars are equipped with Matrix lighting -
1) do your Matrix headlights implement the individual LED control features that are currently disabled in the USA?
(and - if so)
2) is the Matrix functionality disabled when the car is in the USA?

Anyone know if a Porsche dealer (or independent shop with the necessary PIWIS equipment and relevant expertise) in Canada could/would enable Matrix functionality in a US-registered vehicle?

Why would Porsche try to disable the feature when the car crosses the border?

In the US, the US Department of Transportation (and its subsidiary agency the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency (NHTSA)) have continued to delay a rule
amendment that would permit "adaptive driving beam" headlights, like the Porsche "Matrix" lighting implementation. US-market Porsche cars with Matrix lighting capability
are therefore delivered with the individual LED implementation disabled.

I realize that. Unapproved and illegal are two different things.

If you’re looking to purchase a Canadian vehicle with the feature enabled and use it in the US, I don’t think anyone will care.

indeed … but a US rennlister had claimed that the Matrix feature might be enabled/disabled based on gps location (rather than rules in the market where the vehicle is sold)!

The Porsche Matrix lighting system is a type of what are referred to (in the USA at least) as Adaptive Driving Beam headlights, which selectively light or disable individual LEDs to produce a light beam pattern which maximally illuminates the road ahead, but without dazzling drivers in oncoming or leading vehicles (by selectively turning off the LEDs which would otherwise illuminate the approaching or leading vehicle).

The geographic gps enable/disable theory was posited by a USA Rennlister - I don’t believe it has any basis in fact and seemed to me to be an extremely far-fetched idea (even though technically possible).

My best understanding is that the Matrix system’s full functionality is allowed and enabled in Canada (like most countries) and would continue to be fully functional in the USA.
