Always about speed.

Never doing anything about the left-lane campers on every single Ontario highway, causing others to weave and dodge around, cutting off and causing accidents (friend hit head-on on hwy10 by someone who was clipped by a right-lane overtaker).

Cops do nothing, but you'll spot at least three on the same stretch every Saturday morning giving out tickets for 15 over like candy.

agreed, growing up in he UK there were constant public awareness campaigns about staying out of the passing lanes, and about the seriousness of passing on the inside. That seems to be totally lost here.

Agreed. Another beef is trucks in the passing lanes. I gather that in many European countries, trucks are not allowed in the passing lane(s), period. Good idea.

Likewise! I was one of the first people - literally, first week it was a thing - to pass the theory test in addition to road test.

When I came here I surrendered my UK licence (remember that whopping great paper thing?) for instant full G.
Now, imagine the same applies for other immigrants but from countries with... less stringent education and testing.
Straight swap. No quick top-up or refresher on how things are done here. Could discriminate and we can't have that. Here's your G. There's your nearest 400-series. Limit is 100 and no more. Pick a lane, any lane. Have fun.

This.

It's unbelievable how bad drivers are with respect to negotiating the timing...

I passed a few people and pulled back in. 5 minutes later, I was pulled over and told that a plane caught me doing 45 over. Well, why even have a passing zone? Doing 125 on basically a highway is not a problem. So now, I’d get towed? Wow...

these speed limits were put together a half century ago. Cars are better. Tires are better. Roads are better. Speed limits are the same. The answer must be stiffer penalties. stop playing politics with this.

love the stupid pic of a Lamborghini. There will be way more kids in their parents Jetta’s getting hit.

Yeah, that's BS.
I agree with this though: "“Driving is a privilege and those that threaten the safety of others have no place on our roads" Those that "THREATEN THE SAFETY". That should be punished.
Passing safely at high speed doesn't threaten the safety--it increases safety.

I also agree to be more harsh on stunt drivers, on drivers who do not maintain their cars and subsequently think they can do 140km/h in their Yaris, drive unsafely for the conditions (snow, rain), and drive aggressively with no signals.

We do need better driver education as well, I'd agree.

Most of the Toronto city roads have been reduced already to 30kph from 40. So really, my commuting time has only increased 25%, or about 60hours a year.
loosing my license for 40km/hr? Coming off the 401 ramp onto yonge street? Cars are often doing 80-90 kph at the bottom of the hill. And there is always a cop car there. I guess they should have tow trucks parked there too. Taken away dano.
400 is under heavy construction, and it looks like it will never end. Lots of 💯 to 80kph zones. Most are still doing 12o in the reduced areas. Roads are going to be empty will all the impounded vehicles.
racing? Should be of an intended nature, not from slight of hand and sneaky posted signs.

I didnt even see them coming up behind me. There are many on here that im sure think " that is really cool"

The only thing i have an issue with is the general speeding part. yeah its easy to go through a reduced speed area doing 110 in a 70 on a country road . Do i deserve a ticket for not paying attention and being an idiot ? absolutely i do. Do i deserve facilitators insurance and feel like im being treated as a criminal ? im not so sure about that.
It would be nice if the laws were setup as a delta from the prevailing traffic flow rather than some arbitrary politically set number (because we all know that traffic engineers using 85th percentile is not how the limits are actually set). The 400 series of highways have a safe design speed of 140km/h, this is why it's so easy to get up to those speeds because they were engineered in such a way that it's perfectly safe to do that. The limits were lowered back during the fuel crisis and conversion to metric in the 70's or whenever it was, we used to be 70mph at one point on the 401. A delta speed would catch anyone doing way above the normal flow which are the problem and not just everyone rolling along at 120-130km/h perfectly safe.

Long and short, this is nothing to do with safety, it's everything to do with placating the Helen Lovejoy "won't somebody please think of the children" crowd.

I’m going to have serious problems adjusting when I finally get into Ontario again after this Mexico experience. I haven’t obeyed a stop sign for a year. Its way to dangerous to stop for one lest one wishes to wear a car up their ***. Speed limits ?? Those are advisories only and nobody pays them any attention at all. Speeds are self governed by how fast dogs donkeys and cows can run. Passing trucks, buses and other slower traffic is workable as those indicate passing is ok by lighting their left indicator. Four way stops are a gamble but if I’m stopped no other driver will stop because what’s the point, so I just wait for the intersection to clear. Oh and left turns are always done from the right lane, seriously.

ive only seen 2 911s here. They are too low to be practical on anything except the toll roads. Those BTW are excellent and move right along. At 140 I was the slow car. I gotta get/borrow something faster than a Yaris.

I have to admit I don't speed deliberately...or rather, I should say I don't drive aggressively.
In my Taycan, it's so easy to not realize and get upwards of 140km/h especially when traffic is moving that quickly, and when on clear, sunny roads like the 403 HOV, or the 401 outside of the GTA. In those cases I catch myself and have to slow down.

It's in the city, on those roads like Avenue that are set at a paltry 40km, or on side roads where there is little traffic. That will be hard to control I think.

I would never exceed posted speed limits.

"It also introduces escalating post-conviction licence suspensions, up to a lifetime ban for a fourth infraction." I would hate to pay the insurance bill after 3 infractions.
