nice. you went from the 12C to 675LT? Everything I have read from owners says this is the greatest car.

After the 675 test drive, what you read was spot on! 2900 lbs 675 hp, mid engine. What the Cayman should be.

That being said I upgraded the 12C with an exhaust, CF seats and track alignment. Track alignment transformed the car.
At mosport following a Mercedes Race car.

Kept the Speedster sold the RS, and the 675LT is one of the best cars I’ve owned

Heard from a fairly decent source the 992 GT3 will start around $180k CAD base so easily over $200k CAD with options... more like $220-230k if you include PCCB, buckets, leather, FAL, etc. That is a solid price hike but if anything still looks like a good deal relative to USD pricing which is rumoured to start at $160k. Secondary market cars for those that can't get allocations will easily be pushing $250k for the first bit which is nuts.
Yeah you may be right. With the increase of the 992’s MSRP, that may drive the price of used 991.2 up even further. I didn’t really think about that.

Its getting even harder for the regular joe to purchase a GT3. I guess I really don’t need this car but I certainly want one.

Good point on helping 991.2 resale's if 992 is markedly higher MSRP.

If I get an allocation I may have a 991.2 GT3 PDK available (through the dealer). Sweet build if I may say so with low mileage. Depends on when I get one and when they would want me to trade it. I would think they would want the trade for this driving season.

Sounds great but I would only be interested in a manual.

I placed an allocation deposit on a 992 GT3 but I don’t really have any high hopes on getting one with no history with GT cars purchase. Let’s see what happens.

Ah ok.....good luck! Stay in touch with them once the car is launched. Call everywhere as well.

Apologies but I find this to be pretty funny. A high end sports car was never meant to be attainable by a regular joe, even less so a high demand/low supply and $$$ model like a GT car. For many buyers that is part of the appeal ie. that it is not available or attainable by a regular joe... totally unfortunate of course but that is reality.

As someone who bought a 2018 991.2 GT3 6MT as my entry into the Porsche world, it truly is disappointing just how crappy the search experience had been for 2 years before I found mine. It shouldn’t be this hard to buy a GT3.

I've only been looking for a couple of months and I'm tired of it already. I have money ready to spend but refuse to pay msrp on a 3 year old car. Its funny because all these GT3's at msrp are not selling, they've been on sale for 4-12 weeks, so it's not like the demand is that great.

You might not be the type of person who pays up but there is plenty of people who will. If youve watched the market closely there used to 3-4 times the amount of 991.2 GT3/RS available mid past year but that supply has since dried up. The GT3’s are an incredible value and the world knows it.

Harder part is finding the spec you want.

cheers

That's typical of all sports cars during the winter months. 6MT 2009+ 911's were 90+ and have been hovering around half that.

As mentioned, the supply side is creating some major distortions in the market. MSRP is just a number my friend...the true value of the car is what it actually sells for. In a rarefied market as for the GT3, it is a meaningless value. If the car listed for $120k and the equilibrium price is $180k, it doesn’t matter if MSRP was changed to $100k or $160k. The market and the free hand decides its value. One can either sit on the sidelines and harp on about it to no avail; or get on with it, persevere, and buy when a good example comes around.

I agree that it is difficult to stomach the pricing dynamics in Porsche GT cars sometimes.

I was looking for a GT4 a few years ago and faced the harsh reality that if I wanted one, I’d have to pay more than msrp for a used car. It took me awhile to wrap my head around that. Ended up paying 11% over msrp for a 1800km car in exactly the spec I wanted. I was able to sell my car privately but use it in the trade to make up the difference, but still.

In the end I chose to do it because even though it was technically higher than MSRP there was no better deal on any car I wanted within the Pcar brand or any other. It was buy that car or buy another GT4 and face the same hurdle.

And don’t think that you’re the only one getting screwed. That guy who paid msrp for it probably had to accept $25k less than wholesale on his trade to get the privilege of buying a GT3 at msrp. It’s a racket through and through and it’s why GT cars hold their value (versus msrp) so well. Very few of them are actually sold at msrp all things considered.

I bet you’d get that allocation you want if you were willing to take a complete bath on a 997 GT3 trade in. That’s how the system works.
