McLaren builds more cars than they can sell and in general they have a hard time selling them. Unlike Ferrari that keeps supply low and demand high. McLaren is still bleeding cash
It's really really sad/ hilarous. My friend bought a 720S new and dumped it last year for a massive loss. In 18 months of ownership he lost a GT3 in value.. the asking prices online as just those.. asking
Now all the older models have gearbox issues.

I’ve seen it his dealer is awful, and my 675LT zero problems and my dealer is great. I’m a car guy I drive all the brands, and not brain washed by just one of them while Porsche is my fav for sure. Funny I love experts on car experiences ......my Ranger Rover never goes to the shop vs my wife’s AMG 63. Sh&T breaks and we still love the car. Sorry back to Porsche talk not sure how this went off the rails.

When did this become the McLaren haters thread? Move along people... ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Heard from a fairly decent source the 992 GT3 will start around $180k CAD base so easily over $200k CAD with options... more like $220-230k if you include PCCB, buckets, leather, FAL, etc. That is a solid price hike but if anything still looks like a good deal relative to USD pricing which is rumoured to start at $160k. Secondary market cars for those that can't get allocations will easily be pushing $250k for the first bit which is nuts.

It’s so frustrating to purchase a GT3. I mean, I have been looking for 4-5 months now and the prices are ridiculous in my opinion with a 991.2 going for at or over original msrp.
Hoping to get an allocation and purchase a new car for the same price. Perhaps wishful thinking.

There was a time when the GT3s and particularly the RSs were very rare, I think there were something like 600 996 RS and they never came here at the time. Now we have an accumulation of them over the various models, and doubtless the next generation will be built win great numbers ( as has been the trend). I am not in any way knocking the cars, ( will get a 992RS and keep what I have), but we are not talking about a 918 or the like with less than 1000 made. In principle I will not pay any premium and never have. If I don't get the car it is certainly not the end fo the world and I have zero need to be the first on the block or do some kind of PTS.

Years ago an analyst opined that the cost difference to Porsche between a Boxster and a 911 Turbo was about $5,000. Which makes perfect sense really...they're basically the same thing conceptually. Most of the cost is in testing and homologation anyway. A friend that works for another German OEM told me once that all the wheels they offer cost the same...about $10/each...do the math on the margins on GT cars and Turbos. There's a reason why they are the most profitable car company per unit.

Porsche margins are quite crazy, they do very well. Here is a breakdown on the 992 generation.
