Default Port of Emden

So I am happy to say my 718 Spyder is built and sitting at the Port of Emden waiting for a ship to come to Canada. Any chance anyone here is in Emden or knows anyone there and might be able to send me a pic of my car? I know this is a long-shot but figure no harm in asking.

Awesome news that your Spyder is at Emden. It's a BIG place though...thousands of cars waiting to ship out.

LOL, my GTS is (probably) there too. If you look at the photo (and other port photos) you will notice that all of the thousands of cars appear to be white. This is protective material. The chances of anyone other than an employee of the port directly involved in the logistics finding a particular car are infinitesimally small. You probably wouldn't recognize it anyhow.

Keep in touch with your SA and maybe find out what boat is gets on. The Swift Ace is currently loading and should sail for Halifax by tomorrow. The next boat for Canadian cars is the Viking Queen, leaving Emden about Nov. 4. The Siem Confucius embarks Nov 17. Hopefully both are cars are on one of the earlier boats.

If you want to feel a bit uncomfortable, watch this and imagine these people driving your car!

Thanks. My SA told me is expected to leave port by Nov 13th so not sure. It only arrived in Emden 2 days ago apparently. So maybe likely to be on the Siem Confucious. Fingers crossed for earlier.

I am not even sure that my car has reached Emden yet, but it should have. If you hear anything, keep us updated. Several others are following this thread:

How are you figuring out which boats Porsche is sending cars on?

Pick the appropriate schedule for your location and Volswagen K. E. as the shipper. It should open or download a pdf of the most recent schedule.

If you then want to see where the boat is, use:
marinetraffic.com

If you are bored, you can hunt for webcams at ports and see various ships. The Panama Canal is pretty cool.

OMG the memories!!! Back in the 90's I used to live in Germany working for a cruiseline and launching cruiseships at Meyer Werft shipyard which was located down stream from Emden in the EMS river in the town of Papenburg... We used to be docked exactly across as you see in that picture for a month at a time for the final outfitting of the ship and before our sea trials in the North Sea...
I used to gaze all these cars going in the Car Ferries like clock work. It was a site to see. The Germans are so organized its amazing. I was expecting to see abuse on the cars, but I have to say that I did not see any of that...

Enjoy the new car!

Nowadays the cars all have jockey limiters on them aka delivery mode. The stevedore loading cars has a job to do and abusing car isn't one. It's all very controlled at ports. The kid at the dealer lot is far far worse

I’ve been trying to search for webcams at the port of Emden? Has anyone had any luck finding a site?
