100% agree unless you are tracking the car.

That said I paid $1980 (plus tax) for my PS4S in the spring.

That's not bad, I went with Braiden tire and 1263 all in for just the rears.

Summer tires are getting super rare, especially in the larger sizes. My mechanic is pulling his hair out of his head trying to find track tires for his customers.
I suspect with the pandemic they cut production or imports assuming people wouldn't use their tires as much. I suspect things will get back to normal-ish next spring...

Covid supply/demand I would guess. Just like how a 2X4 framing stud is $6.00 compared with about 1/2 of that 3 months ago.

Yeah wood has been insane .... if you tried to build a deck this summer or get pressure treated wood you were lucky to even find some.

I can't get anymore treated wood to build my firewood shelter at the cottage ... luckily the local BMR had tons of "hemlock " in stock , where a 2x6x16 is actually 2 inches and a 4x4 x8 is actually four inches, that
stuff is super heavy especially when still "wet"
The guys at the materials counter just laugh when the weekend tourists come in and ask for treated wood !

Cheers
Phil

treated lumber factories shut down during covid and demand went up. prices jumped 70% and not available. Builder friends of mine have to go to 5 yards to get wood. Another friend is major lumber supplier and he is not taking any new customers this year. Prices of building went up.

I was at CEO tires today. They swapped around some tires onto new rims for me with their Roadforce machine for super cheap. THEY ARE NOT BUSY. I mean, sitting around wondering if they will have jobs next week not busy.

Don't know if that would translate into good prices, but they were certainly good to me.

six more weeks to snow.
IF you do find some summer tires? That dealer/distributor won't want to be holding this inventory over the winter.

I first bought from Tire Rack in 2003 and never looked back. All my cars have tires from them. I paid 330 back then for summer Bridgestone tires that was quoted 1,200 in Canada (plus taxes of course). There is no way a local tire shop is able to come close to Tire Rack. What happened, they tried to sell me tires that were less performant and of course did cost less.
