Question What would a non running 05 Cayanne Turbo be worth? with an Epic Ending

Wondering what would a non running 05 Cayanne Turbo (321k) be worth if I will try to sell it or trade. Do used car dealers even take trades for this type of car. I don't think there is a engine issue since last time I got a CAA boost it did start but won't now. I been having battery issues and seems to never charge up and always get drained. The front carpets are wet so water is getting in and I am thinking it needs ignition coils and spark plugs needed to get it running again and maybe something wrong with the starter or alternator. But there are a lot of other things that need to be done like rotors/brakes and front windshield which just those alone are big money to do. Thinking it will be 8-12k to get running again if I get someone to do it. Money which could go into something much newer and cheaper to maintain.

sounds like it is not worth much. When I was at a dealer a year ago to trade the Touareg for Q5, the dealer did a test drive took pictures and put it up on a wholesale bid site and got a very low offer 20 minutes later. Our car did run though. I put it on facebook the next day and sold it for double the offer. Lots of people now know how troublesome these are and not much of a market for them. IMO lots of poor engineering in these heavy trucks. On your vehicle is sounds like the wire harness to the battery might be shot. Check if it is a recall on the Cayenne, another thing to check is the fuel pump cracked and not funcioning (is a recall on Touareg, found out after I changed it). Good move to move on imo. At least is doesn't have scored cylinders. BTW the Q5 is a great smaller, lighter, better driving replacement, IMO.

There is a fuel pump recall on it but I have not gotten it done yet. I am checking under the driver carpet and the wiring runs under them finding spliced wires that are rotted out where they are spliced.

I am not considering anything that requires premium gasoline even though fuel economy is a better on newer vehicles. I still love the Turbo though hard to get rid of it but its a gas guzzler, tire/brakes wear is fast and parts are very expensive for it.

I know a person that just sold they Cayenne Turbo about the same age and mileage as yours for $1700 the truck was in a bad shape, engine knocking, body was in bad condition too.

if you haven't already done so, pull the drain plugs on the underside of the rocker panels (rubber grommet style plugs) that way when it rains and leaks into that area it drains out.
one thing you can also try is disconnect the ground on the floor in front of driver's seat for a few minutes, and reconnect, that resets the system by disconnecting the battery. Sounds like someone repaired the wire harness before you purchased it?

was going to 'low ball' that truck, someone overpaid
bought a pretty nice 'not running' 05 Cayenne S for ~$700 last year, 280 km
I'm casually hunting for a Cayenne to make an offroader

There were around 50 people interested in that Cayenne Turbo, I don't think the buyer over paid. There were still lots of good parts on it if someone only needed a parts truck. Getting it back on the road would have been cost prohibitive but not if only used for parts.

What was wong with teh S you bought?

True, not a fun car to part-out though, but guess most people do have plenty of free time now.
The floor wiring, fixed the joints

bore scoring, hangar bearing, wire harness, very poor wiring all over vehicle (particularly headlights, check the wires they are bare, with no covering now), fuel pump(easiest fix of all), valve body on trani, exhaust flex pipe...I think those are the major flaws with these.

Those were easy to pull out but I have been pulling more of the carpet back it looks like water coming from behind the dash and not from the bottom. Looking at other posts from people with the same issue there wiring looks spliced in places as well so I don't think it was repaired by the previous owner looks like it from factory what a terrible thing to do. Looks like a need to find the plugs that collect the water from behind the dash. I leave the battery disconnected now.

I guess that is fair even though some would think too high. I got a barn to store it so thinking that is the plan for now.

My 05 Cayenne S has 140k on it and has never had an issue ...... 0 none / nada .... Great truck not to mention safe as hell ..... 955 Cayenne's are real Porsche suv's and they drive like something substantial unlike the newer ones and I still get amazed how well it takes turns for a truck of that weight .... I have smoked quite a few cars , especially hillbillies with pick up's thru turns with it simply incredible ... I scout these trucks out all the time average price for one that runs rough or knocks is on average about $2,500 - 3k any less is a good deal depending on options model base S or Turbo ... I have found some very good condition non running ones for 1200 and as low as $800 ..
