Default Searching for vehicle broker/importer for US to Canada importation

Any 2020 recommendations for a broker to import a car from the US to Canada? The car I'm searching for is younger than 15 years old, so is not RIV-exempt (and not a Porsche).

I've personally imported a RIV-exempt car from California to BC and it was very easy, but this was over ten years ago and some of the procedures may have changed. Some of the cars I'm considering are on the East coast and I'm on the West coast so I need someone to help me do this remotely.

I imported a car myself 10 years ago and it is different now.

Couple years ago I did it again and use these folks to help me. Lyssa Cardin, CES, CCS

What's different now? I used to import cars as part of my job, but it's been maybe 2 or 3 years since I stopped doing this. CUrious what's changed.

Haven't done it for a number of years, but was very straightforward if you follow the process. Just don't misrepresent the sale price in an attempt to save a few $ in tax - it doesn't end well :-)

It's been probaly 10+ years since I've imported cars and motorcycles, but does this apply to only cars/motorcycles under 15 years of age, or all?

10 years ago I was able to do all the paper work myself. couple years ago when I did it again I needed an ITN number. The ITN and original documents must be presented to US CBP at the time of export. I just paid the Broker $100 for them to get me the number then I flew down to Florida and drove the car back home.

ALWAYS use a broker. Massive time and headache saver, especially for the time when you're actually at the border and don't want to get refused export/import because your paperwork isn't in order.

Its actually quite easy to do on your own. there is a website to get the itn number (I think it was like $70). Or if you don't have time to do it on your own then just use a broker.

I’ve imported a dozen or so from the us over the years. What’s changed (actually improved) is the manual labour of getting the title to the US point of entry 72 hrs in advance of crossing. I’ve had to sleep at the border watching the clock because of a stern officer with no flexibility. Now its all electronic. The ITN number is your ticket to a friction free exit from the US. Simply google ITN and your point of entry and choose your broker. Have a cc handy and ots all electronic. Takes a couple of days for the ITN to arrive in your email but once you have it you’re ready to cross.
