My mom (84) doesn't. The wire only reaches about 5 ' from her front door

People need to slow down in school zones. I live at Avenue rd & Lawrence and the side streets are brutal. Quite often people don't even slow down for stop signs. I applaud the city for this in school zones.
There will only be two in each district so we will know where they are so they will do their job. $21 for 1 over is ridiculous though.........

These people are the PARENTS that drive their kids to school. What needs to happen is that parents have to stop driving little "Johnny" to and from school and let him walk his a$$. But since the last 30 years kids are getting more and more bubble wrapped, letting them walk is out of the question.....and so is leaving the house on time so this causes the parents to drive like idiots around schools.

Thats part of the problem but not 50% where I live. Kind of harsh to make preschoolers walk a couple of miles ...............

Wonder how many city vehicles including police/fire/ambulance will be getting tickets for 1 km/h over...

As much as we're usually on the opposite sides of these kinds of issues, I broadly agree with you in this thread. I think most of the dangers faced by kids have become way overblown, to the point where it's no longer society acceptable (or often even illegal) to allow kids to do normal, healthy things, that were common just a couple decades ago.

Also on board with setting realistic speed limits. It's absurd to have laws that 90% of the population (or whatever the percentage is, but clearly a large majority) routinely break.

I get it...you guys don't like photo radar. I agree the 1km tickets will just be a nuisance but if you have kids or a dog and live near me you would understand what I am getting at.

You think you are a traffic engineering expert and think artificially lowering the speed limits works. Or using kids/dogs and an excuse for it. I do this for a living, it doesn't work. You and your neighbors will be the ones getting those tickets and then the bitchn' will start to remove them. What is your dog or kid doing in the middle of the road? The road is for vehicles not for kids and dogs to run around. That's what parks and back yards are for. Are you sure there is even a speeding problem on your street or you think there is?
