Intro and looking for advice
Hi everyone,
My name is Alex and I am new to the community. Currently placed a deposit on a 2019 911 C2 at a dealer here in Toronto. A day after I placed the deposit, I was informed (via email) the car had some small front end bumper damage during the transport and that portion was repaired/painted at the body shop (they sent a pic too and its pretty small so all good). The other update was that the car was previously licensed from a cancelled deal and technically I'll be the second owner. Its stated that the vehicle never left their premises.
Needless to say, as many other enthusiasts, I've been looking for this moment for a long time - close to if not longer than 10 years. The day I tested drove it and later put the deposit I was really excited. Second day when I learned this, got a bit of cold feet and made me doubt a bit the state of the car as it raised a lot of questions. Important to note, I do appreciate the dealer being transparent and open about sharing this.
What are your general thoughts on this? Should I walk away? I like the car and the specs, dealer also played ball with the figures for my trade in vehicle and I have a limited time to buy (two months). Everything was aligning so nicely and then this news popped up and it raised some doubts...am I just overeating? Should I go with it and see if I can get some further discounts? Wondering too if the person who cancelled might be on this forum and shed further insights...
Would appreciate hearing what you guys and gals have to say.
Thanks,
Alex

Id just go with your gut feeling , **** happens and they fixed it id really go over the paint correction if its a Porsche dealer then it should be done correctly . As for the second owner they knew that before you signed if its not a big deal go for free oil changes or another grand off of it start with 3 lol and compromise .

Thanks, that is also what I am thinking. If I can get an incremental discount in return as a show of good will, it will be greatly appreciated and would improve the overall buying experience.

technically you bought a used car .... i would not want to sell it and try to explain all that .. if you pay for a new car you get a new car
just my opinion
They should have disclosed that fact to you immediately as they new .. i dont like it.

I would strongly suggest you walk away.
When you eventually go to sell, one of the first questions you will get is if its been in an accident. While it wasn't in a crash per se, being honest you would have to say that the bumper was repainted. Regardless of how minor the damage is, it will greatly affect the value on resale since it was repainted.
One of the next questions you will get was how many owners did the car have. 2 owners is double the number of owners as 1.
There will be plenty of non repainted single owner 2019 C2s on the market in a few years and you will have trouble selling unless there is a significant price reduction on your car.

I get your excitement in getting the new car & would be the same way; however step aside and look at the situation objectively. You bought a new car and are now receiving a damaged car that lists you as the second owner. If you were planning on keeping this for 10-15 years, maybe not a big deal...maybe. If you are going to drive it for a few years & then sell it, you are going to take a loss through no fault of yours...I would walk away. Just think too, if you were trading a car at this same dealer and disclosed it had even minor damages, do you think they would figure it is not a big deal and not devalue the car somewhat? I would think the dealer should step up either via another car or sweeten the pot with accessories/discount/something...
My thoughts but not my deal!

ZERO chance I could make the leap from "I finally bought myself a new 911" to "I now have a second owner car with a resprayed bumper"
Lots of cars to choose from....run and don't look back.
Plus if you ever try to sell that thing (we all think we never will), it'll be a huge pain with a resprayed bumper.
No discount, free oil changes or anything else will give you peace of mind.

Run Forest Run!!
you will never be 100% fully happy with this 911, knowing its history before leaving the lot for the the very first time. It will eat you alive! Walk away and start over..
