Default Oil change - funny story

Stopped by my indie this morning for final oil change before putting the 997 to sleep for the winter. Been putting it off hoping for a few good drives before we head south for the holidays but never happened. Anywhoo
My mechanic is a bit of a stickler for taking care of your car but takes it to the next level. Great guy and extremely funny when you get to know him...but will also yell at you for driving in flip flops. listening to music too loud among others. Think the Saab mechanic in Seinfeld.
Walked in this morning and walked into the middle of him just GIVING it to a guy who brought his 996 in for an oil change.....his first in 47000 kms. That's right. 47K. Oil filter was barely noticeable and at one point I heard...."you don't even deserve to drive a car like this!"
That was my laugh for the day but seriously...who drives any car 47K without an oil change.

DING DING,
His reputation proceeds him. He had several other choice words for the guy but well deserved. I mean...seriously...who does that?

This happens more often than you think....

I like the people who argue about what oil and filter you use but only see them every 2 years and service is 365 days over due or -12000kms. I did an engine replacement on an X1 because the owner waited about 40k, Filter broke, parts of it blocked the pick-up.

When i got my A6 it actually had " replace every 32k " printed in the filter. How easy do you think that thing was to get off.
Still, car lasted to over 400k and went terminal due to transmission

I know someone who had a leased F150 and only topped up the oil for three years before eventually changing the filter when he returned the truck to Ford ...
Surely a lot of people with leased vehicles probably do the same , but that guy with his own 996 deserved what he got from Auguste !

No, it's not me ... i still have my truck !

I did this to my old TDIs. Changed the oil every 100K. It was constantly using oil so the insides of the engine were pristine but this only works if you have a car that consumes oil.

if you do this your engine will always have detergents in there, from the new oil being added constantly. this is bad for the engine.

Sold the car with over 600K kms so it couldn't have been that bad for it.
