I have to agree with you, it does look pretty ridiculous... LOL. I have had my share of people laughing at me. But at the end of the day, I live in the country and would rather have something that looks funny but keeps my wiring harness safe... LOL

 

Seems like overkill but with your explanation, it makes sense

 

I would throw down a light coloured tarp on top of the black bottom, just so you could see any mouse droppings easier. But I guess if they got it you would have an air leak that would be noticeable. Probably overkill as well, but after fixing chewed wiring on a main harness for a clients 89 928 I'm all for overkill to keep rodents out.

 

The way this bubble works is there is a filtered computer fan that continually keeps the bubble inflated. Where the zippers meet at the back of the car, that's just enough space to let some air out so there's continual circulation in there. I Imagine the force of that Air keeps mice from trying to get into the bubble. In addition, the frequency of the fan is supposedly one that mice don't like so that keeps them away as well. As for the wiring harness, apparently the sheathing is made with vegetable oil which is attractive to mice.

 

Very cool.

 

you could have used car in a bag, without the bubble.

 

Take some styrofam packaging material, run it through your garden vac/chipper
Place copious amounts in the bubble

Shake well and enjoy!!


Just teasing but it will guarantee no dust or moisture near the car which is nice....actually the cushioning is probably worth doing it for given the amount of crap that gets near the Porsche through the winter - no more worrying about knocking the snow shovel over!

Hilariously ****, like the annual oil change, but I'm sticking with foam pads, a trickle charger, Stabil, mouse traps armed with sunflower seeds, a fan and no cover.....no cover 'cause mice like the dark and I can't see my baby on a cold winter night.

For a newer 911, you need a 16' CarCapsule as the 911 is 14+ feet long. Ironically, their website has a 911 in a picture for a 14 foot unit and the owner of CarCapsule said he needed to change that picture.

I doubt the air in the bubble is any dryer than the air in the garage.
Unless there is some air dryer in the fan there?
Pump up the tires, fuel stabilizer, car cover.
Battery tender.
Maybe an old duvet, for bump protection.

I do not think it will keep the car dryer than the air in the garage since it uses the same air mass. But if you do keep a winter daily driver next to it, it'll keep the slush away from it.

In the summer, I use a dehumidifier in my garage...it won't work in the winter though. And one of my motorcycles is 28 years old. Still looks like the day I picked it up back then. Of course, no daily drivers in the garage, they belong in the driveway.

 

A $24 CT fan left on all winter will minimize/eliminate condensation as temperatures change.
