Default Time for a change - D2S bulbs ?

12 years and 75,000 KM on those Original OEM Xenon D2S bulbs on my 997.1S working double duty as DRL, figure it's time for new bulbs. Car is finally out of storage a couple of days ago, took a drive in the evening and felt those Xenon are weaker than the ones on my 7 years old winter car with the same D2S bulbs.....

Tried look for LED replacement bulb but didn't find any I feel good about so I will be ordering some Phillips D2S unless some of you have other good suggestions......

Amazon Amazon

These Osrams are excellent xenons. I've used them and was very happy, and I know other Porsche people who have installed them and been happy. Very bright white light, not blue. ~5500k color temp.

Yes, HID bulbs become dimmer and blue-er as they age.

What's more important is to find genuine Phillips or Osram HID bulbs as they are a lot of fakes out there.

Did not know that...

What bulbs do you recommend and where do you buy yours?

Osram is supposed to be better than Phillips, but I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. I got mine from autopartsway dot ca to avoid duty/taxes from buying from the US.

The Amazon Osram lights I posted are as real deal as it gets. They're stocked and sold by Amazon, and you probably won't find a better CAD price shipping included from a reputable seller. As noted above, Osram and Sylvania are the only two bulbs to consider. I personally really like the Osram CBI's and will use them again when it's time.

Amazon or powerbulbs is your best bet.

I've got the osram cool blue boost. It indicates 7000k but it's not purple. Check the YouTube posts and you'll see for yourself.

The colour is identical to the hid on new cars.

Thanks, just ordered from the link you provided. Took another drive last evening and decided I need new bulbs, will post before and after video after install.

Wish there was an easy way to get rid of the cloud on the lens just in front of the bulb without having to unseal the headlights

Ordered the bulbs from Amazon on Saturday and received today. Install took about 30 minutes. Would I spend $120 again after driving around with the new bulbs ? the answer is YES, I see the difference with my naked eyes but the video captured wasn't as dramatic..... See for yourself....

Hard to do that with factory HID projectors /w auto-leveling unless he drives with high-beams on. The ones that blind people are usually guys with cheap HID retrofit kits in their reflector housing made for halogen lights.
