Default 12 point triple square?

Hello,

I am trying to remove a bumper horn off the front bumper. I think the bolt head is a 12 point triple square but i am now sure. Would anyone in the downtown area or highpark area have a socket I can borrow? Or if you know where I can buy one. Check crappy tire and brofasco already.

I picked up a 11 piece set (Bastex 11 piece Triple Square Spline Bit 12 point set) for under $20 on Amazon when I had to remove my steering wheel last month.

Ok I’ll look for that one on amazon. Does the head look like a triple square head?

that's not a triple square . Looks like a Polydrive to me . same as the Audi / VW head bolts and cam adjuster bolt.
in fact I have one right here at my desk.

Better known as Torx. You can get them anywhere. Canadian Tire, Princess Auto, Amazon etc.

its not a torx Will. Although you can modify a torx in some cases to get it to work. I am surprised that it is on a Porsche , they are widely used in VW / Audi. didn't know they had migrated to Porsche.

its this .. but not sure about the size.

sometimes they are called RIBE sockets.

Torx is used all throughout the 996/997, I thought it was crazy when I did my first 996 engine. Both male and female torx are used.
Just finishing up a IMS Solution today, the flywheel bolts were T-55, right in Porsche baggies.
You can get a torx set at princess auto.

In this case it's torx but "triple square sockets" are just regular old 12 point sockets.

I'm sorry but I don't agree as it just doesn't look like a torx . .

Torx was invented by the Americans in about 67 . I ram not sure you would find it on a German 1972 car. Don't you think the flats look more like a poly ? could it have been replaced at some point ?

and I'm not sure what you mean by a triple square is a 12 point socket. its dimension is similar but a triple square or XZN driver is required to remove it as it is typical a female bolt head.

As far it being a '72 I didn't know that till it was posted at the exact same time as my post. I thought it would be 996. So chill out.
I agree it's not OE.

I was wrong on a m10 TS fitting a 10 mm 12pt socket, looks like an M12 TS fits into a 10mm 12pt socket.
I was just asked recently for a triple square female socket by a guy using ARP rod nuts, they are just 12 points.

Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to get the bolt out. Im pretty sure it was a polydrive but I was able to use a torx socket to carefully loosen it.

Cheers,

Chris
