Rebooting TPMS System??
Hey All, TPMS Q for my 2009 911 C4
Purchased new wheels with brand new sensors, not OEM, but very reliable aftermarket supplier that many have used successfully on P-Cars.
3 of the 4 sensors registered and work just fine on the first learning attempt. Although it is a possibility that the one sensor (right rear) is bad, I am inclined to think the problem is with the car's system.
Reason is, I can't access the "Tyre Info" part of the DIC menu to input the information about the new shoes: as in "summer or winter", "18 inch or 19 inch", etc... When I get to that part of the Tyre Info menu and push the lever forward (or backward) the menu just goes back to the main Tyre Info heading. Like it's stuck in a loop so to speak.
So, I am wondering if simply pulling the power to the TPMS module will reset the whole thing, or if this will lead to bigger problems....
Again, the sensors are brand new and 3 out of 4 are fine. One suggestion is to swap the left and right rear wheels to see if the the problem switches sides, but I thought I would post here first to avoid a whole bunch of grunt work (I have a sore back!!)
Thanks
Jack

might be worth finding someone with a Durametric or PIWIS system Jack, sounds odd it kicking out of the menu...

I know the Audi side of VAG uses the speed sensors to do TPMS.... Porsche is by air pressure?

yes 997/987 have internal sensors
any decent 'Porsche' shop should have one
feel like making about a hour drive west, I'd be happy to scan/reset
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob - I will keep this in mind. I think I should try the wheel swap from side to side first to eliminate a sensor being bad. Gonna be away for a week or so. Later in May then...

Still waiting to hear back from Dealer for their 2nd attempt at linking all four TPMS to the Cayenne... No way all four batteries die at the same time on a 2016. And dealer tech doesn't know why and sent us home with a promise for a fix - two weeks ago. With no communication to date after leaving voice mail... Yeah - lovin the after sales support.
