R8 RWS, 12C? 997 GT3?
I'm having a difficult time finding a suitable replacement for my beloved 996TT but I have an opportunity to grab a new delivery RWS. At first I dismissed it, now I'm not so sure.
Brand new with warranty "supercar" for not meaningfully different price than a 997.2 GT3 that's almost 10years old (at least the prices I'm seeing).
Other option I'm batting around is a MP4-12C. Those puppies are avail for the same, and possibly less, money than the Audi but in order to sleep at night I would require a third party warranty at about $8k/year. They're spectacular in my mind - a different level but might be too over the top for me.
What say you guys? The insane value of my perfectly sorted 996TT is making this very difficult!

Fortunate to have driven all those cars, and i think you'd be happy with every one.
Immediate difference to Porsches IMHO is the feedback. Audi steering feel is more numb, McLaren a little better.
McLaren has caymanish balance due to being mid engine, be leary of issues, if memory serves transmission. Very costly.
Audi personal preference is paddles, brakes over boosted hard to heel toe.
GT3 underpowered compared to others, great driving experience and sound, plus its a stick.
Drive all 3, tough choices.

IMHO 997.2 GT3 is overvalued for what it is due to nostalgia and panic about Porsche not offering manual on GT3, which it now does. I'd get it only if you absolutely want manual. Otherwise, not good value. MP4-12C is A LOT of car for the money. What would stop me is that it's not as nice to drive as updated McLarens (e.g., I'd take 570 over it), and has bad rep for reliability.
Audi RWS seems like a good value. I've only seen one review and it was not super-glowing, but it was being compared to 991.2 GT3, so it's a high bar. But even standard R8 is good, and this one should be more involving AND cheaper. Also that NA V10 is special. And it's a new car with the warranty and Audi reliability.
So out of those 3, I would get the Audi.

Drive the R8 first. Not comparable to GT3 IMO.

It looks like I'm going to end up in a GT4, potentially as soon as this week.
RWS - certainly good value for what it is in todays new car market, but BC's new luxury tax kills that value for me. Nice car.
997.1 and .2 GT3s - insane prices now. I cant get there.
12C - man I want this car but unless I find one under private sale in Canada I'm getting hit with that same 25% tax rate - even if I import it. And then I have to wrap my head around $7500/yr warranty, $2500 per year annual service and, an average of $3000 per year in wear items, totalling $13k on average per year. That's the best case scenario - if something goes wrong that isn't covered by the warranty, plus plus plus plus. I might be able to get there if the car isn't depreciating, but I don't know that. I'm going to watch the McLaren market for a couple years to understand it better.
Even though GT4s are still selling above sticker (in Canada, theyre about sticker in the US), I see value in it. I know its in a different class than the others and I'm not totally sold on the engine, but overall, what a car. Ill enjoy it and Ill sleep soundly at night! There's a ton of properly spec'd cars available right now too because guys are taking delivery of their 991.2 GT3s (now that they can be manual) and turning in their GT4s. None of these have any real miles - some below 1,000 km, most around 2, some 4-5k kms.
GT4 feels like the move! It will be neat going back to my mid-engine NSX roots.
If anyone is looking for a perfectly sorted 996 Turbo in Vancouver, come get it! You wont find a better one!

My $0.02 I've had quite a few 911 variants, currently my 991, I just added Manual R8 V8 and I absolutely love this car. Get's way too much attention than my 991 but I prefer to drive R8 over my 991 every time. Again that's just my experience I am sure other's might have had a different experience.

For what it's worth I have an R8 RWS on order, the car is basically a Huracan LP580-2 in drag at a bargain price.
Consider that my build spec on a 991.2 GT3 was 185K + 25K ADM = 210K, the R8 RWS @ 163K is quite the value proposition, never mind the taxes I will save on the 47K delta, or the fact that I don't have to willingly participate in the dealer abuse of customers via ADM. Ultimately, if the R8 RWS and 991.2 GT3 were both available to me at the same price, without hesitation I would choose the GT3. Though it's worth noting that I don't have a desire to amass a collection of cars, the 991.2 GT3 would essentially replace my 997 RS, where as the R8 would be an addition, the addition is not ideal.
A word of caution on the R8 RWS, we are not 100% certain what the Canadian config will be, specifically referring to where Audi will replace soft touch leather with hard plastics... and I hate the hard plastics. Recent video suggests the RWS is the only R8 that comes with a rubber/plastic steering wheel airbag typical of the A4 where as all other R8 models come with a leather wrapped unit.

997.2 GT3 would be a disappointment after a sorted out 996tt. The R8 is cool car but all show just like those that buy them. Not digging the MP4-12C. I guess I would have to choose the R8.
but sound like your looking at the GT4. I would do the GT4 but again it's like the 997.2 GT3 never going to be able to keep up a 996tt.

Disagree about the R8 V10 its very capable and goes as well, very cool. The sound is fantastic!!
MP4 very fast especially with a decent tire, mid engine design gives it a great balance.

I've driven a sorted 997 TT, no chance I would pick that car over my RS.
