The market never lies. I test drove both and it was no contest even at double the money when I bought mine in in 2009.

I would also pay $75,000 for a 993TT but I wouldn't pay $200,000...

Not early air cool problems. Just super high milage maintenance . Water cooled porsche engines usually expire by this point

the watercooled Mezger engines have proven to far outlive their aircooled ancestors...I love aircooled's but there is a reason they went to water...

was 'cross-shopping' 993tt(to build into GT2+ clone) with 6GT2 back when they were similar money...I haven't looked back...
kinda funny thing is, both cars seem to follow similar pricing since then...

They went to water for emissions and to pump more bhp's out of small flat 6's.. The air koolers are far more reliable. Several guys in California have run over 300,000 miles on 993tt's without opening the motor. Though water kooled Mezger engines are certainly more reliable than their NA counterparts, they can't come close to an air kooler.

why do watercooler's run cleaner and make more hp... because operating parameters can be kept tighter...ability to keep operating parameters tighter = longer engine life.
there are a couple 996tt now over 500k MILES, "T2" had his engine opened at 383k MILES and all tolerances still on the good end of spec "like new"....daily driven and regularly tracked.
both air and water Mezger engines are very highly crafted and great engines

agree.. as a owner of both. Both tick every box for me in different ways.

GT3 Touring has now arrived..pretty special. I did my research on 'satin aluminum' finish on my rims and very happy with the decision...but of course, the impetus to now get rid of the 993tt is regrettably here. Would have loved to have kept both. Champagne taste...beer budget .
