Default History of Singapore Car Wanted

A long shot this, but I recently bought a 1991 964 3.3 Turbo, Maritime Blue which was imported into New Zealand in 2000 from Singapore. In 92/93 the engine had been removed and sent to Stuttgart for an X33 upgrade. I think the owner at this time was a Mr Karsono Kwee and a Mrs Christina Ong or a Mr Anthony Chan (the documentation is not entirely clear). I recently obtained a certificate of authenticity from Porsche which states the car was originally manufactured for the Sth Africa Market. Are there any Rennlisters out there who know anything about this machine? I'd be grateful for any information about its time in Singapore.

Thanks Sean, forgot you used to live there. Have some more info: Registration # in Singapore was SQQ9977Y (does this sound right?). Last owner and third owner in Singas was a Michael Gerard Van Scoyk. All maintenance in Singapore was done by Stuttgart Auto Pte Ltd. Porsche got back to me and have confirmed Eng matches VIN (phew).

I'm still here for a bit longer. Leave it with me and I'll see what I can dig up!

Hi

I'm in Singapore as well. Some pointers.

Karsono Kwee is the gentlemen who owns Stuttgart Auto.

SQQ as the prefix for the registration does not sound right. SQ is entirely possible and would indicate an old number plate used on the car.

There is an aircooled section on the singapore Porsche forum (which is not very active) but I have noticed that there are some people on that section who are very informative. I would recommend posting there and seeing if you get a response. www.porschesgforum.com is the website

NZ

Can't help you with the email. Need to find someone in SA who can help you there as I believe this will need a "personal" touch.

I would strongly recommend posting in the Singapore forum or if you wasnt I'll do it for you. Let me know.

The funny thing is that Singapore is a small place and we enthusiasts tend to remember these cars - although I was out of Singapore for the exact period your car was registered here the number plate sounds very familiar to me and I am trying to remember where I have seen it.

Most people tend to keep old plates like that so if we can track down the current owner of the plate you will be able to track down some history.

Thanks again Karl. I have registered for the forum but am awaiting approval before I can post. I got the # from the vehicle registration card from Singapore and actually on review the Registration Number is SCQ9977Y. Anyway the owner then was Mr Van Scoyk. There are also some numbers for the previous owners but they don't look like plate numbers. I guess SA are my best bet to work out the Sth Africa mystery so will try to get a contact thru the local forum.

Van Scoyk seems very SA. Not to be judgmental but they might have brought the car to SG with them no?

Put some calls in today, let's see what happens.

I don't think so Sean. He was the third owner. By SA I meant Stuttgart Auto. Thanks for your efforts on this.

Mate, nothing on their existing system for the car but they are looking back for us and asking around internally. I'll try and stop in to see them tomorrow or Friday at lunchtime.

Cheers.

I finally got registered and accepted on SG forum, then my post had to be vetted before being accepted. Things are done differently in Singapore. Anyway, will wait see.
