Hi everyone, I've recently returned to HK after a couple of years in the US. My heavily modified for the track 996 GT3 is still there but I return to the US regularly on business and manage to do an event in it every couple of months. Now that we've found somewhere to call home in HK the search for a car has begun in earnest. We're adding to the family early next year so need to make a practical purchase first - Cayenne S/GTS or M5. Once that's out of the way I can look for something more fun to use on the weekends...

The Cayenne GTS would be a good choice as a family car ! Lots of space for some shopping !

What a big surprise, I've been logging on Rennlist almost everyday since last April but never realise that there is a Asia-pacific forum. Just wanna to hi to everyone in Hong Kong, and just wave when you see a zenith blue Targa.

Default Moving to HK

Hi all HK Rennlisters,

A possibility exists that I may make a move to HK in the new year and so have to change my user name as well as consider bringing my P&J

If anyone would be kind enough to share some insights on owning and running (an aircooled) 911 out there, I would really appreciate it. Anything from where you can get them reliably serviced by someone who knows and cares about the cars, where you can go for good drives, whether it's worth bringing my car with me or selling and buying locally, etc. ANYTHING would be appreciated!

Looking forward to the flood of helpful replies....

Thanks!

TJ

Hi TJ, HK is quite similar to Tokyo in a smaller scale, traffic jam all day long ! But during weekend, you may have a run through the country side , or up the hills on the island side ! Your car, is it left or right hand drive, here in HK is right hand drive and for shipping your car here, you better ask for more information through the automobile club in HK , they can provide services such as registration and custom clearing ! There are also some good mechanic around town that service our air cooled 911 !

Do your research and good luck !

Hi Edward,

Many thanks for your quick response, I appreciate it.

I only use the car at weekends and it's a LHD (Japan is like HK/UK driving side). I am planning a trip to HK most likely next week - can you recommend some mechanics who I can go and visit and check out in advance? Where do the Porsche community gather at weekends? Here in Tokyo we have at least one location where like minded folks gather every Friday, Saturday night.

Meantime I shall check the HK Automobile club.

Thanks!

TJ

I am going to be in HK this week and wonder where is a good place to shop for Porsche stuff. Any recommendations would be most welcomed.

just wondering if there are regular SMDs / other activities amongst the rennlisters in HK? And, if so, are they only open to porsche drivers?
