Porsche PD School - Barber Track

Porsche PD School - Barber Track
Headed to the Porsche 2-day performance driving school at the Barber track in a few weeks - a present from my better half.
Just looking for others' experience with that program and track so I have a better idea what to expect.
Have done the driving experience at the Atlanta track a couple of times. It was fun, and the instructors were greats, but it left me wanting more.
Looking forward to Barber's bigger circuit and the opportunity to drive multiple P-cars - and hopefully narrow the field for my next DD.

Great instructors, great program and well run. I could have done without the Cayenne experience but everything else was great.

You will love the experience!
I spent 7 days there 'early on' in my amateur driving career. The instructors made some things really click for me. At the time, looking ahead and through corners was something that I knew I was supposed to do BUT they got me to really understand and do it. Sounds very basic (and it is) but they 'steered' me in the right direction.
The instructors are all fantastic and Barber is an AWESOME track. Indy car is there TODAY and the race is on NBCSN at 3 (I think, I watch stuff on AppleTV). You should try to watch the race to familiarize yourself with the layout.
If things are the same as over a decade ago, stay at the hotel that they recommend as 90% of the participants stay there. You will be surrounded by other car nuts just like any day at the track. What more do you need?
I don't know if Hurley Haywood is still chief instructor but he's a great guy. For brownie points, ask him if he still has Somali cats (a purebreed). We bonded over feline talk.
ENJOY! Your 'better half' did you a solid on this one.

Thanks guys! My youngest son (16) is coming with me for the weekend as a guest, so he'll get some track time with the instructors. And couldn't be more thrilled (unless he could drive himself).
We're staying at the Grand Bohemiam - the spot recommended by PDS. Anything else to check out in the area while we're in town?

Big time! I don't know if they still do it, but at lunch time the museum usually takes one car out on the track to keep things happy.
I ate at a fun BBQ place in the area that the hotel recommended. I figured when in the South, stuff your mouth.

Agree with all the advice above. Have done two of the two day courses and had a blast. I also brought my daughter who rode with the instructors. You both will have a blast.

Just did it in March (2 day course). Awesome. Track and facilities are top notch. Instructors were great. Grand Bohemian is nice, relatively new. They do cooking and wine tastings if you are there extra time, would not recommend the nights before you drive....

I attended the 2-day back in August 2015 and did a pretty thorough write-up here on RL in this section. Worth reviewing. Course is excellent - in fact, I'm headed back in a few weeks for the Masters Course.
Enjoy!

I attended it about 2 weeks ago. Overall it was a worthwhile experience. I found the skidpad the most educational for me.
The track time was eh for me because it's lead follow. After doing 17 DE track days with an instructor next to me giving me one on one instruction, I didn't feel I learned that much in that format.
This was bought for me as a gift before I had any track experience but I never got a chance to go. I tried to get moved into Masters when I registered but they denied me because I never ran that track before.
But overall it was great. You'll drive 2017 C2S, Turbo S, and 718 Boxster. Surprisingly, I liked the 718 and C2 on the track more than the Turbo.
Here's a tip, try and make sure the group you are assigned to has as many people who can walk briskly and get in and out of a car quickly. You'll need it for the AutoX competition.
