You guys talk like it's a 3rd world toilet.
It was a perfectly clean & basic motel that is minutes from the track.
If your wife and/or kids can't deal with that, you've got much bigger problems in life.

Some people like camping, some people like glamping. Me, I'd rather stay at the Harbor and wake up looking at that beautiful lake.

But dining and getting rowdy at the Seneca is the best.

Hampton is my go to when not at the Harbor.

Seneca was fine when I was twenty-five and buzzing on the new-for-me scene. Now? Not so much... But the bar there is killer!

Yeah.....experience it......have dinner at the restaurant, soak up the vibe in the bar.

Just don't stay there

Gary

....to the OP--not a place to stay but make sure you at least visit the motorsports museum/library--thousands of books and magazines, cool old movies, and always an amazing race car on display......

I LOVE Seneca Lodge!! There's the typical chain hotels in Corning, but 20 minute drive to track. Falls Inn is nice, Harbor Hotel is $$$$

Yep, nothing like going to the bar, stumbling to your room, and getting up to race the next day !!!
It's not the place to stay for a luxury vacation, but there's nothing wrong with the rooms. Clean, beds are comfortable, cable tv and free wifi.

Best Western Hammondsport Hotel. Nice modern property. Reasonable rates. Scenic drives to and fro WGI

I always book the Falls Motel in Montour Falls. It's a clean, well maintained, basic hotel that is relatively inexpensive and about 10 minutes to the track. It does fill up fast for big track days, so reserve early.

Default Glen Motor Inn

I'll give a shout-out to the Glen Motor Inn, now in its 80th year. Yes, it's old. The WiFi sucks. The rooms are basic and overpriced (isn't everything in Watkins Glen?). But it has views of Lake Seneca to die for, an onsite restaurant, and it's just a mile north of downtown and an easy 10-minute drive to the track. Oh, and it's owned by Victor Franzese, who runs a McLaren M12 in SVRA.

Harbor hotel is pretty good and can be reasonably priced. WGI is near some nice areas, so I'd always take family with and stay at Harbor. Seneca is not bad, but there can be minor annoyances like someone snoring or partying way too loudly in the next room, which will sound pretty much as if they are in the same room, or being too hot or too cold etc. Nothing that can kill you but some risk of having less than a perfect night of sleep.

What Dan said.

Having spent no less than 150 days at WGI, we settled into staying at the Fairfield in horseheads, and less often at the fairfield in painted post.
Redeeming some marriot points earned there for a posh week in London soon.

How do you really feel about the place? Do you like the salad bar?

I'm gonna add one more thing about the Seneca: meat cake.
For those in the know! Yum but it does add a second to most lap times.
