I found that stock pads would wear approx 2mm in a DE weekend. Pagid RS14 (recommended from my local dealer) are about 1mm per weekend.

It depends on your braking and on the specific track. Always take an extra set - somebody will help you put them in.

Keep in mind that for the track it is best to replace them at 50% to minimize heat transfer.

As a green student I could use a set of pads for 3-4 event weekends. By the time i graduated to advanced I would use 65-70% of the stock pads in a single event. This greatly depends on the track, of course. The best part of using the softer stock pads was that I had the same stock rotors that entire time. As a matter of fact, they still have some life if I need to use them in a pinch.

Has anyone tried G-Loc brake pads, and if so what was your opinion?

Agree with this. If you use Hawk pads (like I do on my SM but not on Porsche), DTC pads are what you need for the track. DTC-30, -60, -70, etc.

I used the 70s on my E90M forever. They worked great at tirelessly hauling that 3800lb pig to a stop. Great prices from tirerack too.

Are those reasonably easy on the rotor?

Exactly this

They seem to be fairly good regarding wear. I measured approx 0.2mm of rotor wear from 5 track days. This was a mute point as the stock, new Porsche ventilated rotors started cracking from the vent holes and I've now replaced them with Sebro slotted.

A sad fact of life is that the drilled rotors crack.

I have them in my car now. No opinion yet, but Danny was great in helping pick a compound.

According to the guys at 949 racing, one of the guys from Carbotech started G-Loc after some sort of split. Supposed to be identical compounds with (they claim) higher manufacturing consistency.
