I'm not familiar with SCCA classes. What else runs in GT2?

Glen:

Have you seen the rules pertaining to the Supercups in GT2 yet? I would be interested in reading them. I do know that a fuel cell is required. Previuosly, these cars were eligible in regional classes. Rules for the regional classes SPO, P1, etc., aren't as specific as the National GT rules. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Your car is beautiful. I fear for it. Especially with those fender bangers.

Gentlemen, I was just made privy to an email from an SCCA bigdog sent to Alwin Springer, Jeff Stone and some others that the cars will be eligible for GT2. They are working on a fuel filler neck change that may allow us to run without the fuel cell change also. I have asked that guy to post here so hopefully he will soon with additional details. We looked on the SCCA results and the fastest lap in GT2 at TWS on the 2.9 course was about a 1:50 which is the same area as a well driven Cup runs....so it looks like we have now 4 places to race our cars. HSR. PCA Club, PCA Cup Challenge and SCCA. I know Grand Am is out there for those that want to make a few more changes to the cars. Karl sorry I dont have much SCCA knowledge either but I will have a guy who does post here soon.

But no need for you to apologize, Glenn. Your quick wit more than makes up for tendency to be fast.

"Out front", oh yeah, I know what that is... Haven't been there. Haven't done that.

Mike,
Technically you are "out front" right before the leaders pass you, right??

Greg

"Technically you are "out front" right before the leaders pass you, right??"

Absolutely.

Which is why I love enduros. Common wisdom is to pit as soon as a full-course yellow comes out.

Not me.

If I play my cards right, it is my opportunity to lead for a few laps. Plus those flashing lights on the pace car can be mesmerizing.

However, I find my vision is affected when the lights go out. I see nothing but colorful blurs going by when they turn them off. Including a certain black one.

I spoke to someone from Kelly-Moss this weekend at CMP. They said the USA-GT won't be back in HSR next year unless a big sponsor comes along to finance it. However, I believe there is a class in NASA GT Challenge that a Cup car can run in. Also, next year the Cup cars are moving out of Grand Am Cup into the Rolex series, so if you want to run in that, you better have some sponsors or deep pockets.

Heck ya you need deep pockets... i spoke to a local guy whos going to run his '03 GT3 cup in the 24 hour. First time out for the car in grand-am and not even a winner in PCA, yet he wants $25,000 per driver to get into the action.

My guess is you will need to add a damage deposit equal to that amount also.

I suppose, I just thought it was funny... as the same guy offered me $25,000 for my entire race car in the same conversation.
