Actually, the roof nets are to make sure the SBC drivers don't escape from their cars. SBC drivers are not allowed to mingle with the general driver population and are kept in a separate part of the paddocks which is gated off from everyone else.

If one escapes there could be a Harambe type episode and no one really wants that. Then again, its not like we don't have enough SBC drivers to spare.

SBC = Small Block Chevy?

Yes for the SPB class if you don't have a factory (metal) hardtop you either need arm restraints or a roof net. Arm restraints tend to get in the way so the roof net is a good option (and provides more protection from cockpit intrusion).

It was only 4pm in the afternoon so I can't even blame it on drinking.

Here the video of the Sebring track record for SPB (2:29.10) that was done this year.

There's a 2:28.x possible in the SPB as I overcooked T15 and the wildness in T17 was a bit much although there was a lot of time gained in braking. Ugh!
