Mid-Ohio reference video
I'm visiting Mid-Ohio for the first time in a couple of weeks. And I'm trying to find some reference videos to study. A quick google search has yielded a lot variation...

My little brother has a better camera setup than me so I usually send people his video's for study material.
Only thing we've worked on since then was tidying up his entry to the carousel he was a little lazy on entry. Otherwise it's a pretty good video to study.
Car is an 1993 Mazda RX-7 on Nitto NT-01 tires.

From my recent thread which has some google earth images of the correct lines through difficult sections at Mid-Ohio:
More info here in this thread:

Also you can look at some pretty good lines from Bobby Sak who finished second at the runoffs last weekend:
Unfortunately my runoffs started out badly!
But here's some fast laps from my test days:
Getting that last second takes a serious lack of imagination at T1, T9 and T11. Have fun!

I greatly appreciate this post. As your car is likely very comparable to my own.
One question:
1. The first left-hander (turn 5) after the keyhole...is there any particular reason the entire width of the track is not being used on exit? This is a point of variation I've noticed in videos.
Montoya-
Thank you for the GPS traces. I'm saving those to my phone for reference at the track!
Can you explain what you mean by lack of imagination at turn 11? (Turn 1 looks like a very fast left. turn 9 looks like one needs to pay careful attention to car yaw and reducing steering lock as they crest the hill...effectively proactively counter steering - reminds me of turn 9 at grattan).

While I appreciate montoya's great effort at the RunOffs, and have enjoyed the videos posted for a basic idea and good entertainment value, it would be best to invest in some time with Tommy Byrne or Todd Snyder at Mid-Ohio. The professionals that teach this track every day (and have for a few decades) can share more references in a single day than you can accumulate in a club race or DE lifetime!
Mid-O is one of my favorites, but it was several years before I was able to decode it (and even more after teaching it) to best effect. Like many of the landmark tracks around the country, there is a tried and tested optimal line. And I haven't seen it yet on this thread!

Here is your reference video.
Justin Hille.
Set fast lap in pretty much every session at the SCCA Runoffs in Spec Miata this year. Incredibly fast that week.
