Mid-Ohio Runoffs Practice video and data
So some cool stuff from practice days for the SCCA Runoffs at Mid-Ohio.
First up are three of my fastest practice laps from Friday:
Next up are some cool data overlays of my line and the line from one of the pro drivers that ran in my friends car on Tuesday. He's red and I'm yellow:
First image is of the keyhole where my line is actually faster (the only place on the track!!) and his line is fast in but from apex out is slower. My line is the preferred Mid-Ohio School line.
Next image is of T4-T6- here you can see he uses more of the road- in the data he also brakes later and get's on throttle earlier- you know just faster!!
Finally, here is the carousel, where I am just late in my turn in and unlike the keyhole, you do want to diamond it out like the pro driver does to get on throttle early in the right spot and accelerate out.
The data is all there, just do it! Simple right???

Good luck at the Runoffs. Have you raced at M-O before? Just an FYI ( which you probably already know) - the (wide) M-O school line through the Carousel will lose you one or two positions in a race if there's someone close behind you......and in SRF when is there not someone close behind? They'll stick their nose inside and you'll be forced even more wide.

Re: keyhole...is your full segment faster there (through the end of the back straight) or are you just evaluating the corner. His line gives up time in the middle of the corner but my hunch is he gets it all back and then some by the next brake zone.
I could be wrong though which is why I ask. That's my home track and Id ultimately prefer his line through the keyhole for overall sector time at least in my personal experience

Thanks guys! This is my first runoff, so I don't have any unrealistic expectations! I'll keep everyone updated with other video and results. Should have our qualifying up on race monitor tomorrow- our session starts at 1:10 Eastern- SRF3.
thanks,

good luck, have fun
ps - looks like you got through the first day fine. I was always amazed at how many people wadded up cars in the first session, sometimes on the first lap
