NOLA Places to Stay

I've been to the track a number of times. If you're with the wife I would definitely recommend staying in New Orleans. The track facility is awesome, but it's not in a great area of town. Leave your trailer at the track (it's under 24 hour guard and huge amounts of space) and stay somewhere comfortable/fun in the city. It's only 15 or 20 minutes to the track depending on the traffic. My two cents.

Looking forward to the event!

The Maison Du Puy is nice and in the heart of the quarter. They have valet parking and they can handle a truck (mine is a Nissan Titan).
For me it is nice because my wife and kids make this trip and the pool is heated and only a block from my father in laws house.

Windsor Court - valet was very accommodating when we showed up with a F450 Dually. Bell man even offered to hand wash it!
+1 on leaving trailer at the track. Avondale (area around the track) is not the best of areas, but the track has security and ample space.

If you can get a room downtown near the quarter, the family can attend the French Quarter Festival while you are at the track. Music, food and festivities all day Sat and Sun. If you want to be nearer the track, we have a block of rooms right across the Huey P. Long bridge that is near a shopping center with many food choices, shopping and a movie theater. All within walking distance. And a safe area.

If you have starwood points W in the quarter (not the big W) Meridien, Westin Canal Place, Sheraton and in that order. W in the quarter is small and feels more like a garden than a hotel.

Stayed at the Hotel Monteleone off Royal street during Mardi Gras last year which is one block parallel of Bourbon Street. Loved it. Check out their bar ie "Carousel Bar". Mike

I agree on staying in New Orleans rather than right by the track. I stayed at the JW Marriott, which was nice and offered easy access to both the French quarter and the highway to NOLA motorsports

Sorry guys, I got the dates wrong for the French Quarter Fest. It is the previous weekend so it should be easier to get rooms and less crowded. Still a great place to stay.

Race Car
I planned my whole race weekend around attending the FQ Fest.....!
Popped in to check the NOLA race thread and was surprised there wasn't one.
Guess I'll bump this one so I can find it to post updates from the track, since by now, OP would have definitely found his temp digs.
See ya there Super Dave.
T (wondering whether to pack an extra set of valve springs... )
