Seems to me it is too easy for tires to touch in the cup car world. This isn't the first time we've seen this type of incident.

Gnarly GT3 crash
This didn't appear to be tires touching. He went off and went sideways and the tires dug in and started the roll. Car held up incredibly well. Makes me feel better about racing a Cup.
Glad he's only bruised.

No ABS? Looks like the inside car (Blue one) ran out of talent and skidded into the car (white car) that was then pushed into dirt and rolled.
Good cages are not limited to "cup" cars, they just use them more often, especially in PCA club racing

Three Wheelin'
Unless added, I scruted a brand new 991 cup with Bosch motorsport ABS at Road America two weeks ago. Shop owner said it was ordered that way from the factory. Must depend on the series.
The 997 based Andial cup cars have ABS of course there are only 2.

Looked to me like the perfect storm of circumstances where the inside car "wedged" underneath the other car that had the inside shoulder unweighted sending him off sideways. glad he walked away from that.

Yes. I believe the Euro Cup series cars are prohibited from having ABS

Factory-sanctioned Carrera Cup series (GB, France, Deutschland, Asia, Japan plus others) and the Supercup series all run the bog standard car without ABS or TC.
There are stateside series that permit one or both. Elsewhere in the world, sometimes you see Cups running in a "GT3 Challenge" class amidst a proper GT3 grid. Many of those "Challenge" cars run the full electronics suite like their GT3 counterparts.
