That was violent. Hard to believe he walked away with only bruises.

In (Euro) GT3 Cup Challenge the use of ABS is allowed on 996s and prohibited on 997s and 991s.

Glad he's only bruised.

He was clearly on 2 wheels and in the air before he even got to the dirt. Freeze the video @ 50 seconds and you can see this. What would cause this? Why didn't he just slide sideways into the dirt? These cars are so low that I don't really see how the other car could have gotten under him like that.... So glad he's OK

That was scary. I'm glad he is ok. These cars are tough - not great at flying or landing, but tough.

Agreed that he was wheels up before hitting the dirt, but I wonder what would have happened if the runoff were paved instead.
Interestingly, it starts with a camera on the left front fender, but it doesn't last very long.
What circuit is that, I don't recognize it?

That sure looks like it. If you watch the end with the fender mounted camera, you can clearly see the window flexing away from the door frame when the car rolls, with enough space for a hand to go through.

Good God, watch the slow-mo version and if you freeze it there's definitely a hand out the window.
He easily could have lost it.
In SpecBox the PCA has mandated that we wear arm restraints, because the roof is flimsy. I, for one, actually wear them, and now I'll be sure to continue that.

Exactly why I prefer to race a Cup car, not sure if others would provide the same level of protection.

BTW, that driver is Pedro Piquet, Nelson's 17 year old son, leading me to believe that this is a Brazilian circuit. Also, he did suffer a minor hand injury.
