Thoughts on HPDE & Safety from Ross Bentley

Test Data
I've seen no data showing that any Simpson HNR is effective with a 3-pt belt, nor have I seen data showing that the NecksGen Rev provides substantial protection for side impact beyond 30 or 45 degrees (I asked for it, and was told that their data it's 'proprietary', whereas there's abundant independent test data available for the HANS). One would think that if there's data supporting these claims, the manufacturers would share it, given the big marketing benefit of doing so. So I remain skeptical of these claims.

Peter is referring to the R3 version which is NLA other than the "youth" version.

As perspective, there have been WAY more selfie-related fatalities so far this year than DE racetrack fatalities. As Winders has repeatedly asked in this and other threads...is there really a problem here?

If you are tracking a car you love and want to drive it on street as well, just spend money on safety upgrades, use a hans/rollbar/helmet, and have fun on track (do not push past your limits). If racing go a bit further and get an intense full-cage and fire suppression for those times you are competing and pushing the limit to win.
When I do HPDE I am there to learn, and have fun. You can do that below 10/10ths! As for racing; well when the time comes for that I am there to compete viciously and keep my honor as a safe driver above all else!
