Default Front rotors cooked, tech question

So after my 4 days at road america(pca race) ,
My front rotors look really bad, they overheated, lot of waves on them. Some blue spots i could see after my races.
Road america is pretty hard on brake.
Im running pagid black all around with some fans and ducts, etc

My technical question is, how will be the feel with the braking now? Lot less brake? Shake in the brake pedal?
I didnt take the pads out but will they be wave?

Rotors have plenty of life left, but can i still run them? Doing a DE on mon-tues and a race next weekend

I have new rotors and pads ready to go.

Thx for the help

I would certainly do a brake fluid flush. If the rotors aren't cracked, I would run them as-is. Provided there are no cracks that you can get a finger nail in, and there's more than 5mm of pad material (inner and outer pads), I would run it.

Define waves, concentric or radial? Type of rotor solid, drilled or solid? Blue on the edges, where exactly. Pictures?

Pagid leave residue. If you don't fell a chatter or see cracks probably fine. I use to at times need to clean up glaze on pads. Switched to PFC. What rotors were you using? Do you use old pads to bed new rotors or use new rotors & pads? curious

Seb if the waves are concentric (like rings on a tree stump) then you can use them provided there isn't significant runout (have you spun them yet?).

Agree Road America is really tough on brakes. We cracked a couple rotors there.

A guy like you needs more than 5mm of brake pad to help with heat management.

Default Front rotors cooked, tech question

Thx for the answers guys

There are not much crack on the rotors.
When i pass my finger on the rotor, im feeling the waves, theyre circular. I'm not sure about the exact english term for that... ?

The current pagid pads, i bed them with the current old rotors, it wasnt new pads/new rotors.

I put new set of pads when they're 20-25% left . I was told that the pagid are not so good when they're 50% and left? Any thought on that?

Seb,

The h-english term is 'concentric'.

Pagids aren't great when they get below 50% and IMHO are junk at 1/3.

No braking system is going to be as good when the pad gets thin because you increase heat transfer to the caliper.

Just use the brakes less!

The circular (concentric) wear is normal for drilled rotors. Anything below 50% on the pads will lead to higher heat transfer to the calipers, brake fluid etc. If there is no cracking other than surface crazing I would not change out the rotors.

Don't get fooled by the tapered wear of the pads. The tops will look great but the bottoms wear a lot faster. Take them out and look at them.

ive run pagid blacks for years. great pad.. toss them at 5mm though (about 1/3 ) left. they dont like the heat as much as a PFC11 or 01.
they should be good to the rotors.. you might be dragging the brakes more than you should and over heating the rotors a bit. there is plenty of straights at RA to cool the rotors to operating temps . sometimes overslowing can hurt the brakes by just putting too much heat iinto them... how is the brake fluid? if you didnt get a spongie pedal, you might just have a weird wear problem that started before you got there to RA......what type of rotors?

pics??
