Trimax trailer wheel lock problem
The lock on my trimax trailer wheel lock isn't unlocking (a common problem it seems). I've doused it in liquid wrench but it's still not releasing. My next step is to take the wheel off and replace with the spare so at the very least I can move the trailer.
Have any of you had a similar problem, how have you dealt with it?

I didn't have the Tri-Max but a similar one a while ago. Got rid of it because it didn't work very well. My problem was the locking cylinder and the hinge metal fork would allow you to turn the key (to lock position) even if the hinge was not actually engaged properly. In other words, the hinge had interlocking groves that engaged or disengaged depending on how wide or narrow your wheel was - you could still lock it even if the groves didn't line up properly. But because the groves were not aligned, when you locked the cylinder, it added stress to the groves, forcing them to bind somewhat. As a result, it was almost impossible to unlock it due to the binding of the hinges.
It is possible this is the same issue with your lock. I was able to turn the key to unlock slightly, grab the long ends and push or pull them a little and then turn the lock toward unlock a bit more. Repeat the process again and again until finally the long ends and the hinges aligned in the groves. Then the lock would unlock without any extra effort. Unfortunately it was too difficult to find a tire width that was a tight fit to the wheel and still had the groves aligned so I could lock and unlock it. That's why I got rid of it.

Same lock ...
I almost cut mine off two weeks ago ... i had to bring my car to the dyno and was having a hard time getting the cylinder to pop up so I could move the trailer !
I drenched it with Liquid Wrench penetrating oil and I gave it a few whacks with a small hammer for good measure and it survived the cutting disk ... this time !
Cheers
