I agree with Matt, the old cameras did not start 100% of the time. If you used the GPS 05, you could get lap times with the camera off. Today, the cameras work reliably so no advantage. The disadvantage to GPS o5 is the cost, twice as much as GPS 05A and you need to add a data hub to run the 05 and the camera.

The new dashes all come with GPS-05's (5-pin). The MXL Pista always required separate purchase, as an option.

The GPS-05B (four-pin) used to come with all standard definition SmartyCams. To keep the price the same on the HD, and recognizing that a majority of people were using the SC HD as a slave to a logger, they made it an option.

Right. Not that it matters with the Evo4 or the new dashes, but it was ways a cheaper option to do the GPS05B to the SmartyCam than the the GPS05 to the MXL. With the new capabilities of the GPS, I can't imagine anyone not using it.

Not that I know of but I can check on Monday. The hardware inside the cameras is slightly different.

Nope. You need a different case. The lens and CMOS are slightly different and the PcB board is new to accommodate the external audio in.

Having sold more than eighty original HD's and two dozen Rev2's, I see no difference in video quality. I did like the 84 degree FOV rather than the two new choices. Just my opinion.

Hi Jerry,

I would like to know if you can help me. I have the smartycam HD and solo DL plugged via OBD2 of my 2016 370z Nismo. Everything is working great RPM, Speed, Map, Lap times, but the only thing that is not working is the brake and throttle. Do you know how I can make it work? If you can help me on this I will really appreciate..

Let me know
Best regards,
Francis

Responded in another thread. Jerry or the rest of us can talk you through it but it requires you to check the Solo DL SmartyCam settings and the camera settings, specific to the 370Z.
