Just an FYI. I got booted off Summit Point today during a SCCA track day doing some practice in preparation for the race in two weeks. The track manager claimed I was emitting 130 decibels down the front straight and the limit is 103 now. No exceptions.
No way in hell my car will do 130 decibels 50 feet off centerline at WOT. Need to figure something out or I'm not racing. Getting to 103 will be tough. Putting the muffler and some curved pipes I guess.
I don't think their meter is operating properly but they refuse to see if it is. PIA!!!!! We had a handheld meter two months ago and I was 100-102.

This is not welcomed news. Same thing applies to Monticello, but at least they were up front about it. Now with less than 2 weeks to go, I've got to find a reliable way to check my dBs, maybe quickly source some curved pipes. Do you know where they positioned the meter?

The meter is just before the brake zone of T1 on the outside of the track.
I hear from reliable sources that this has been worked out for the club race and should not be an issue.
I'll try to get more specifics.
The rule has always been 103 btw.

Good news!!! Turns out the track manager at Summit did not know how to operate his sound measuring equipment. The head SCCA sound guy came out after I left and all the cars were in good range or very close.
We need to make sure that this manager works with us and not against us at the race.
Phew!!
