Here is an in-car video of James Sofronas in his GMG 997 GT2 Cup car for a lap around Road America from the recent race with PCA

I can appreciate the frustration TomW has with the Cups gassing him on the long sections. That is super frustrating to continue going back and forth with that throughout the race.
One thing I noticed from an outward observer standpoint RE the Cups in Tom's video. They're not braking nearly as deep into the turn as i've seen other guys do with success. Those cars don't like to be driven like the old cars (brake mostly in a straight line, get back to the gas ASAP) but instead can be driven deep into the turn to set the grip on the nose and then power out of it. If they try to power into the turn like an old car, all they wanna do is understeer.

I think where the cup cars brake is more a function of driver confidence than need or ability (of the car). I saw plenty of cups initiate braking where I did, even though they were going faster than me. The cups that brake earlier than me in the video were the minority.

PCA Road America is my favorite weekend of the year. It was great to be in the garage next to the ex Flying Lizard 997 RSR #45 and to see it in Elkhart Lake for the display on Saturday night.
On it's second outing since a complete rebuild/redevelopment 001 performed well with a best time in red sprint 1 of 2.15.6. Unfortunately a mechanical problem meant we were unable to continue for the rest of the weekend so I wasn't able to get down to the times the car is capable of. I guess there is always next year...

I know it has been awhile but the Chicao Region photographer recently put 143 photos from the weekend up on the PCA Chicago FB page:

If you see one you like, I can probably have him send you a hi-res photo.

Love the car, I was there when KM 1st brought the cars to RA! My wife wrote a story about the cars for Pano.
