New SmartyCam HD Firmware
AiM just released a new firmware update and SmartCam Manager 2. Very cool in that you have more features in setting the camera up in the car and also have a Porsche gauge selection!
Also, the SmartyCam HD GP has been released. This will let you connect external sound like the original SmartyCam and even capture your radio/communicator audio.
Get the update here http://www.aim-sportline.com/mailing...e_2014_001.htm and let me know if you are in the market for a camera. I have the SmartyCam HD ready to ship and Smartycam HD GP on the way! I can help you with any other AiM products as well.

Yes, you can plug two cameras in the same CAN Hub and turn them off and on automatically from the logger. The sound integration is in the form of an input jack or integrated mic on the CAN line between the camera and the hub. Then, under settings, set for internal or external mic to balance the audio levels.

The regular SmaryCamHD does not allow for an external mic of any type. The SmartyCamHD GP will allow you to have an external mic like the old SmartyCam. This also allow you to input the sound from your Chatterbox (there is another thread about that) or your race radios into the SCHD GP and record it with the video.

Well, BOLLOCKS!!! I did not realize that the SCHD GP allowed external min input! I have a SCHD sitting because I liked the fact that I could capture my radio audio on the original SmartyCam video. Guess I'll have to sell the SCHD and look into a SCHD-GP. Drats!

No, SmartyManager works with the standard definition versions, SmartyManager 2 works with all HD versions.

Could you setup two of these cameras to run in conjunction AND write data live to the video from a Motec ECU? If so, does it show as screen in screen or split? Does it have Auto on/off function?

Yes, you could connect an AiM ECU Bridge to a standard MoTeC CAN output template from an ADL2 or ADL 3 (or a C1XX), connect an AiM Data Hub to the ECU Bridge and plug in two cameras to get the same info overlaid onto the video (although a direct ECU connection would be better with less hassle, IMO). It would control the cameras auto on/off, but you would need a third party video editing software to do picture in picture or split screen in post processing. If you're stuck on multi camera, I would use a Race-Keeper or a Video VBOX with the MoTeC...
