Both systems (Solo DL and EVO4) can plug into the OBD-II port to get ECU information on 996 and later cars.

The packaging of the Solo DL for putting it in 986/987/996/997 cars is really, really easy, but RPM pickup WON'T work for anything older than those models. One box, internal battery, internal antennas and one wire to the OBD-II.

The EVO4 is bigger, clunkier has more peripherals required (external battery, external antenna and external harness to pick up RPM) but can accommodate any Porsche made.

My understanding is that these PCA CR compliance tools are deployed with the more compact tool for the later cars and the bigger tool for the older cars. The roll bar clamps for the EVO4 are brilliant. It's a nice solution.

And I agree, I think it's a great, non-invasive view to determine whether or not to dig deeper later. A good use of the resources tech has.

Quoting this just because it seems to have gone unnoticed.

I love it...now they need to work on something to monitor boost. That could be really interesting.

That was mentioned as a capability of the current setup...

I think its a good idea. It will take a little time to interpret the data during the weekend though. They put one in the H class Cayman I co-drove with Jimmy Martin in the sebring enduro.

I disagree. Using a few preconfigured, conditioned and gated math channels in a testing-specific profile and you could compare several cars or to a reference car in about three minutes...

Again, not looking a t absolute numbers, just identifying the outliers...

I was having the same concern as Cory... In our serie (944 Challenge Canada), we'd like to do something like. We actually got the data from 6 cars to compare but it took hours to get useful data... We are using the 144hp/TQ limits.

So if we could that preconfigured thing, that would help a lot... Putting a few cars on the dyno before the season starts with reliable drivers (that won't change anything during the season) and we can then have a good idea when someone is over the baseline...

I understand your enthusiasm for using data but there are few people that have your experience and knowledge, so call me skeptical that it can be used so easily by most people.

Monitoring some SP2 cars would make for some funny faces in the paddocks too

There may not be thousands, but certainly hundred of people that have the knowledge to put this type of program together. This is done in many, many racing series and is a known sort of thing to people that do it. Not to mention the folks they are working with at AiM are very sharp.

I love that guys that have never raced with PCA always seem to know so much more about it than guys who are long time PCA racers.
