Talk me out of it
Finally getting around to completing the conversion of my '76 Targa.
It has been a track toy for years but I am now putting in a full cage and finishing putting on all the fiberglass parts I bought 10 years ago.
My question is about the Dash. The dash is perfect.
Of course it is now out and can't be put back without cutting the corners off for cage clearance. It is killing me to cut up this perfectly good dash. (I have an '86 with a seriously cracked dash, too bad they are different)
What are my options? anyone have pictures of something different?

I'd sell the perfect dash and go with a fiberglass or carbon dash. GT Racing has them, though I have no idea how good they are. https://www.gt-racing.com/products-p...dashboard-top/

Good for 2 seconds a lap!
I would put your perfect dash up for bid on EBay and as has been said, put in a cheap one to hold your gauges if you intend on using them.. Bet there is quite a market for a perfect original mid-year dash....

Not a bad piece of handywork there, rim. Not bad at all!
If I could have figured out how to guy my dash I'd have gotten my car right to the weight limit.
And I had a conversation the other day that's bothering me.
See, I'm a bit of a hacker, so when I did go in and try to gut the dash, I could so easily have set the airbag off and been really hurt. I had no idea what I was doing, but I'd recommend anyone to disconnect the battery.
Of course, air cooled 911's don't have that concern though.

Love the affinity for blue. I need a better cage.
