But I'm guessing a low :33 is as good as it's going to get for my car. 352 RWHP, and 3180lbs with me in it. Current track record (pro) is :31 flat and we were just starting to see purpose built vette's show up end of the season for TT3...I'm guessing track record will be about a second quicker this year. I guess that's my gripe... I've got a car that isn't built to the max for TT but at this point it's ~2.5 seconds off of the ultimate pace and they've just basically added 60lbs of weight to the car...and taken .1 mod factor away from the vette's running full aero. Guessing I'm closer to 3.5 seconds off the ultimate pace if I were to try.

May still do it...I was just pissy when I read that last night.
You'd be a contender on A6's......perhaps you should take a shot while the window is there. The .1 GT3/RS might as well be extinct with their current structure....I'm just gonna have to win DE's.

No more penalty for cup cars - but all rear engined cars (aka porsches) in ST class have to take a -0.2 power to weight penalty.

You guys really need to keep up...

Rear Engine Location ('99+ year only) w/Comp. Wt. less than 2700 lbs = -0.2
Rear Engine Location ('99+ mod. year only) w/Comp. Wt. 2700-2900 lbs = -0.1

Whut?...

Ahahaha - just re-downloaded the rules. This is hilarious. I actually like the new rules (and they have some sensible changes which were initiated by an email I exchange I had with Greg Greenbaum). But it's pretty hilarious - they should really just call out Water Cooled porsche's. Hmm - what's that one vehicle - 1999 and up, with the engine in the back....there's so many,,,,

You, me, Erik, Brian, and I'm sure a few others, the emails were flying last night....
It scares me how arbitrary the process is...all because JRGordon almost won nationals...

So what I am figuring out is that my project car that I have spent way too much money and two years building is now going to be basically pushed to STU whereas a 600 hp Viper is going to be allowed into ST1
this is such BS

Ahhhh the John Gordon penalty and hell, I didn't even run my 99' car this year. Interesting that the Corvettes broke many of my track records this year (lower formula) so what are they so scared of?

Ryan Flaherty the National Director wrote me repeatedly this week asking all kinds of questions about my car. He thought I had cup wheel carriers (I don't) so I guess they had to find something else to penalize me for. So now I'll be at 9.1 (8 +.7 + .2 + .2). It doesn't make a difference to me, I was faster than most of the ST2 corvettes at my previous multiplier of 9.75 (8.7 + .75 + .3 weight). I can't wait to protest any Corvette that out qualifies me at Buttonwillow where they have a Dynojet. We run there in April....

Jrichard, I didn't even email Greg because i knew I couldn't control my temper.
I am still trying to figure out if I can get the 996 cup into ST2, that will make a couple of guys happy.

I think I saw that the Pfat vette at Nationals, in ST2 beat the time of the GTS5 2010 3.8 997 cup with paddle shift, which would not get into ST1 now.

JR, i think the vette did a 1:58 at Nationals, so they really need to penalize the P cars

Dave, yea the official term is you just got "Gordoned"....

JR the math is more like 8 -.7-.2-.2= 6.9.... You got Gordoned by the same rule!

I've been thinking, do you think you could drive through tech in reverse?...

Their worksheet calculates for the class multiplier then tells you what class you're in. That's silly. I prefer to calculate my minimum weight for my chosen class (ST2) so I add the penalties to the class minimum and then multiply that against my dyno results. Much easier and allows me to adjust weight or WHP if needed.

Yea I was just reading Greg's explanation over at NASA and realized I was double penalizing myself for the rear engine thingy. As I said I don't care it's trivial and won't really affect me. It just pisses me off the Corvettes win 3 of the 5 ST titles and they penalize Porsches. Thanks for the motivation Greg....

Dave it kinda sucks but I think one way to get into ST without strapping on a buttload of weight would be to run the GA (conti) slicks. You would eliminate the -.7 penalty since they are free. Don't know what the impact would be, are you still running pirellis? If you come in at 2900 it could save you .8.....

It's all your fault.

Imagine how bad it would be if you didn't break! Yea it's bogus, look at nationals, look at all the track records, look at all the regional race and TT champions, you can count the rear engined pcars on one hand. It makes NO sense....
