Default McLaren P1 at Nurburgring

Pretty impressive and somewhat mesmerising. The whistle was kinda weird. So is the rear wing....but tres cool all the same.

Did we complete a sub 7 minute lap? Yes of course...

So what's the time and why does your car whistle like a cheap suit?

It's a cool looking car but there was lots of drama on track. I'm thinking that they didn't beat the 918s time.

What a waste of time! The sound is terrible & distorted, and it's frustrating that they still won't show their cards re: time- likely because Ferrari hasn't posted the LaFerrari's time. Just my .02 but I think Porsche is sandbagging with the 6:57 on non-cup pilot sports so they can drop into the high 6:40's with PSC's in response to McLaren and Ferrari.

Ring time importance at this level is overdone. Few if any buy a 918, 12C, LaFiat because one's Ring time was x seconds faster than another.

I agree that likely no buyers base their decision to buy any of these hypercars based on a ring time, though I do think it remains a good barometer for chassis set up, especially when cars with less favorable power:weight ratios prove challenging to surpass.

It must have been at least a 6:58 or they would post it.

It's important because it's a level of pride for the company. Just like posting the fastest lap times in a race - it means nothing as far as winning/losing goes, but it must mean something to someone or they wouldn't track it all race, right?

And why does shows like Top Gear run cars around their circuit and post lap times? Because everyone wants to say theirs is fastest...period.

Kettle has boiled, Anyone for Tea?

Fast car, as above, those who can afford these really don't care on the lap times.

Meh...I don't think the video was well done. It felt like a cinematic opening to a video game. Overly dramatized regarding the track without enough car. And why allow the whistle (I'm assuming it was caused by the camera itself, not the car)? Why not dub in actual engine noise? Weird video for a million $ car.
