Rick's Cayman S track car build
#61
ChrisFL,
yes, also did RSS front monomial LCA, stock rear LCA
mdrums,
PDK will run in sport plus mode for faster shifting / ecu maps. biggest issues is you can't fully disable psm or else pdk won't go into sport plus. I had 2 psm failures at road atlanta. not sure the cause. we think that heavy braking with abs may overwhelm stock abs/psm settings. hopefully can stay away from teves or bosch motorsports abs. hoping to save that $$ and use for track days :-)
michael,
advanced DE this year and possible gtp itc in the future. Chris mentioned you've been looking into a cayman build...I don't think you will be disappointed. 6spd build is very straight forward. pdk builds still have some issues...but nothing a good shop can't overcome.

Rick,
Please go down to Spencer's shop. I need pics of my cars as I am already experiencing winter withdrawal syndrome.
BTW, to christen your build you could plan on one of the two 'off-season' DMTD at Sebring (Jan and Mar). The first time I drove Pawxster II was at that event. Spencer will most likely bring rigs down again if there is interest.

A compromise is to keep one of the cooling fans. This allows the car to idle (and keep the the cool suit running) while sitting on grid or during black flag situations.
We use this configuration with the center radiator and a 3.8l and can run in 100+ temps without overheating - coolant temp stays right about 225F and oil temp runs about 250F. ECT is closer to 215 to 220 on cooler days.
Cheers,

Also remember to clean your rads (air hose) a couple times per season to remove debris and maintain flow.

Car is getting its cage installed as we speak, back to Spencer's and the body shop for cage painting, then on to the mechanicals.
Graphics are being designed, colors selected, and bank account emptied.
Did I mention this feels like Christmas?
Pics to follow.

Car is back from the cage builder and ready for cage painting. Interior needs a bit of touch up where the factory interior covered up less-than-perfect paint.
I didn't change the interior color to a lighter color in a feeble attempt to save $$.
I can't believe we are carving up this perfect 2009 CS.
