*Edit* Nevermind. I shouldn't be posting my personal knowledge of Ed online. I'll just say that I don't care for the guy.

Sorry to disappoint, but I hang out in a much more interesting off topic subforum on a different message board. You would know if I was in yours.

Although...maybe it's better now, I'll go tell everyone there you suggested I check it out!

Awesome, well done!

No more dangerous than the average ******* texting at speed limit in his Prius. I'd actually would take this ride over getting in a car with some other unqualified drivers.
I've done plenty of cross country run with a 110 Gallon diesel tank in the back and we were not nearly as rested as these guys were. That actually was dangerous.
Miami - Vegas in 44 hours towing race trailer anyone?

Cannonball is legendary, sure it could have gone wrong but it reads to me that they have done a lot of low speeds, to me driving through a whole bunch of states on roads like the autobahn (Except fewer cars) is no big deal. I probably take more chances driving round in peak traffic where most don't look further than 10 ft in front of their hood.

If a fuel cell does not explode in the truck of a race car why would it in this trunk?
Yeah, yeah they could have hit a cow and exploded into a school bus whatever.

To me is seems like maybe they are not complete idiots and were willing to risk a few tickets for a challenge

Great bucket list item.

Just found this podcast by accident:

http://podbay.fm/show/967899884/e/1427637556

Quite a lot of info about the record. In there somewhere was comment about nothern I80 route. Could be faster than through St Louis etc. It seems people are still thinking about breaking the record.

As much as this makes me feel like an old man, I have to agree.

When did calling someone old become an insult? Older people than me are mostly wiser, I respect them.

i cant comment on the ethics or saefety of any of this, but i will say i second the point made earlier about a soft place in my heart for the movies: Cannonball Run; The Gumball Rally; and all the Smokey and the Bandit movies

In ut almost from the Wasatch front to Vegas is posted 85 they found highway deaths fell and have expanded the higher speeds to most of the state. You don't even look out of place at 95mph. Less time on the road, more attention paid to driving would be my call.

Interesting with speed in different regions/countries. Probably never averaged under 100mph driving thru germany with descent traffic. Most of the interstates in the US are in better condition than the Autobahn. If people just could stay right after overtaking 90-100mph would be perfectly safe in a lot of ares. Especially considering most semis drive 80mph in the US and 60mph in Europe. They hold up a lot of traffic on the european highways.

+1! Nothing like going 150 MPH to hit the brakes down to 50 for a Romanian trucker falling asleep or take over another Romanian truck doing 48MPH.

I've had this once like this but much faster from much farter away and he did not pull back right. It was just as close.
