Great article by Chris Harris, thanks for posting.

Many may not know Sean Johnston, the only American in Supercup and winner of the IMSA Challenge last year with Wright Motorsports, was teammates with Sean Edwards on Team Allyouneed by Project 1. A huge loss for so many.

What a tragic loss. I had to re-read the article several times this morning before it sank in.

just awful was just looking at video posted here of him just toasting the track COTA... what incredible talent...

i know its early but how can this happen..?. fire is almost a thing of the remote past in modern racing.! even with a BIG hit... i thought these fuel cells were bullet proof.. ( even though it seems from reports the impact killed him).

also looks like reasonable runoff in that corner... something broke?? cannot belive the driver missed it so badly to have a hit like that.....

sorry ..just trying to rationalize such a senseless tragedy... he was THE up and comer...F1 bound for sure..RIP...

I'm surprised that his racing contract permits in car coaching considering the incredible risk.
Agreed. a bit analytical for a RIP thread, but i recall a friend wanting to work with Patrick Long and patrick could drive the car, he could analyze data but he wuldnt get in the passenger seat.

anyway you slice it, its a bad, unfair loss of a great young kid.

Yup, Pat is prohibited by his PMNA contract from riding as a passenger in any car on any racetrack.

Andy Lally, whom we have joing us for our Advanced Driving Clinic at TWS next month also does not ride as a passenger.

Leaving this life in the passenger seat of a race car driven by someone else... Now that's horrible.

What a shame for family and friends of both racers involved, along with the motorsports community as a whole. RIP.

Horrendous News! Sean was one of the greats! I was always impressed with how he visited here and shared his knowledge and experiences like one of us.

RIP Sean. I've been following his career since the early Super Cup days. His sensational natural talent was a true inspiration. So, so sad. He was on track to becoming one of the greats. Godspeed Sean.

Sad to lose such a great driver. Forgot about this video until today. Intense battle between Sean and Estre at one of the Carrera Cup races.

Side note...If you watch closely towards the beginning, Estre nudges Sean, bending his front bumper cap, then it magically pops itself back out a few moments later.

Quick Reply: RIP Sean Edwards
