Default After market racing pedal install

I'm installing new pedals on my 997TT but before I do I thought I should check on one thing. Are the gas and dead pedal removable or do they have covers on them like the brake and clutch pedals? I'd rather not put screws in them if possible like the directions with my new pedals suggest. I've taken a close look at both the gas and dead pedal and don't believe they are removable, but my experience has taught me that what I think I see isn't always correct. Anyone have experience installing after market pedals that can confirm this?

On the 996, the gas pedal is a complete (plastic) unit... and the dead pedal is also just a plastic piece connected to the carpet. I think your only choice will be to drill through the existing, unless you're ready for some extensive machine work..

I'm assuming you mean pedal "covers" and if so, When I put them on my 997S I removed the original covers and drilled the pedals for the new covers. Mine were these from Carnewal -

Gary- did you just out the new pedals on top of the existing gas and dead pedal?

From my experience (not this new of a car), the gas pedal is plastic and fixed to the floor (screws). You drill through it. Some manufactures have a backing plate that goes behind the pedal. The bolts will be installed in tension and shear. The other 2 have removable rubber covers. Take them off, drill holes, run the bolts through and secure with nyloc nuts. No experience with your style of dead pedal, but all that matters is that it is secure. I can't see any reason why you couldn't install it over the existing unit if it fits and you are able to fasten it securely and in a manner you know it will not come off when you lean on it.

It's been quite a while but I believe I took the covers off the clutch and brake, don't think there was much of a dead pedal (in 05), can't remember about the gas pedal, sorry. I think I still have pictures of the install at home, i'll see if I can find them and post later..

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I do have to install dead and gas pedal on top of the existing ones. I'd rather not put holes in them with the screws in case I ever decide to remove them, but I guess I have no choice. If anyone knows different (Gary?) please let me know.

You might ask on the 997 forum and/or give Rennline a call (whose pedals are you installing?) also, can't hurt!

Thanks Gary. I did also post on the 997 forum but no luck there yet.

Rennline's set with that new fully adjustable gas pedal completely replaces that flimsy OEM gas pedal. In my car it (=gas pedal) was halfway broken from that bottom hinge. 12 years and 80k km. (996)
Brake and clutch are "screw ons", after you remove OEM rubber. Some drilling required. Dead pedal is screwed on that OEM plastic.

Got the brake and clutch pedal installed successfully yesterday. It's a bit difficult trying to drill holes through something that doesn't want to stay still, but if got them on pretty straight. I will install the gas and dead pedal over the top of the existing pedals tomorrow since there is no way to remove them. Thanks for the direction and advice everyone.
