Looking to buy a new Recaro seat......

Went up last weekend. Make sure you measure carefully. I was going to buy the Recaro halo, but it wouldn't fit in my 993 (to tall). The OMP HTE is what I wound up with because that would fit and was the correct size for me. Regardless they've got a pretty good selection.

Paolo - are your seat mounts lowered? Mine are about an inch or so lower than stock, plus my sunroof sub-panel is gone. Sit in my seat at TBolt, as that is the last race of the year for you don't buy a seat until this winter when you can get a deal, or in the spring when the latest/greatest new seats come out. You will be amazed at how different the same size seat feels across brands...

"Marketing Manager for Recaro North America said “It’s a little bit pricey,” estimating the cost at around $10,000"

Definitely go halo. I think they make, but have not seen, halo seats with collapsible halos to aid ingress and egress. Check those out. I went with OMP. So much more support, but tight on exit.

HMS has a really good selection and expertise; I was there a couple of weeks back (buying new suit and helmet). I was surprised that seats that I thought would be a good choice weren't. And bring your new suit and helmet.
Are you planning on a professional installation? Safety is a system, and the seat protection is only as good as its installation. It might involve welding, not just bolts.
I am going to do mine over the winter (in part for the same reasons Gary mentioned). My car is now 18 years old and I can't just assume that the amounts are strong enough.

Will your seat be on sliders and if so, which ones?

recaro
recaro halo.
i replaced some OMP halos with recaros. i liked the tilt and tightness of the halos a bit more.
in World challenge, they force us to bolt the seats to the floors, no sliders. so its tight. and then the halo. but they do an exit test. its more pecky but you find a way out when a guy ahs a stop watch, or a fire is brewing.

I measured the seat as something like 37" tall and that wasn't going to make it in the car with the sliders and mounting equipment that I had. So, agreed.

Butler, Joie, Kirkey are might be the only ones that do. This is a good SFI standard unlike others.
This if you can make it fit and I've seen them in a Miata so I'm thinking it can fit.
The seats that meet this standard support your legs, hips, shoulders, and head. None of the other options on here do so.
My SRF was as close as I could get to the seats you find here as close to full containment as you can get.
Add a bead seat/SFI foam seat and you'll have the safest seat in any PCA paddock.
I'd pick one of the Lajoie (or equivalent) seats with an insert over any Recaro, Racetech, Sparco, OMP, etc.
Non Recaro option, if sizing is an issue.
