Got pulled over today while towing my racecar......
to the mechanic's shop. In the middle of town, lights, sirens and everything......
I am thinking to myself, I know when I do something wrong, and this time I didn't do anything, it must be my trailer lights......
Officer comes over and says: " Sir, you didn't do anything wrong......I just wanted to know who you use to work on your racecar since I just bought a 2003 911 and I need a good mechanic"........
I tell him: "It is just down the street, you can follow me there if you want"....
So, there I go with a police escort to the shop, he takes the name and number down, and I tell him "make sure you tell them I sent you".....
"What's your name Sir?" "It is on top of the driver's door" "Nice Irish name"...he says......
He then finishes with "Thank you Sir, have a good day".......
I have been stopped several times by police officers, but never to be of any help to them........ until today

um...cool story. If I pull up next to a cool car and wave my pistol at them forcing them off the road just to ask where they got their rims, somehow I doubt things will go as smoothly. Is it legal for cops to pull people over to get mechanic references?
Point is you were coerced. Personally I'd be a tad grumpy. He could have followed you and asked at a red light real polite...

Well it's usually a lot less draining and stressful to enjoy the universe than fight it. Still, that's trooper knows good and well that you can't just use your blue lights for personal business, and that MA citizens aren't his personal Angie's List. Glad you are flexing your zen muscles and all is well your chi

I was pulled over driving home from TX in my new-to-me 930, so some local cop could ask me silly questions about my car. I was in the middle of a 17 hour drive home so I didn't really appreciate the interruption; should I have been glad I didn't get a ticket after getting pulled over for no good reason? Abuse of power I say.

Great story, Doc - only in Massachusetts
I was driving up Rt 1 on the coast of Maine in my 911 cab - top down, headed up for the weekend, finally got past the traffic on one of the few available passing zones - nailed doing 85 by an ongoing state trooper.
Ticket was steep but he did say 'nice car.'
