Default The New PFC Compound is In

The new 11 compound from PFC is now in stock in the 0447 pad. That fits the 928S4/944TS and others. The 11 compound is similar to and replacing the 01 compound. Watch for more pads to be available in the 11,12 and the 13 compound. The 12 is going to be the replacement for the 08 compound that almost everyone has come to love.

When will the 13 compound be available for 78-83 SCs, assuming that is the one to go with? I still have a new set of F/R 97s in the box ready to go!

Prolly will have 15s out by the time I buy new ones!

I'm sure these are great pads (I have a set of 08s to try out at Road America). But this constant changing of numbers and discontinuing pads is getting to be a bit much.

The 97, 93, 80, 83, 01, 06, 11, 08, 13... It's getting hard to keep them all straight.

The changes are being brought about because of Govt. regulations on what materials can be used in the pads. I think it is copper they are now eliminating and causing the product line change for PFC. I suspect other manufactures are in the same boat, but may or may not change their product names with their reformulations.

PFC switched off copper as early as 2006 so its not likely this is the reason for change. Love to 01 and 08. Only time will tell on the new ones but I have faith.

My 97s are pure platinum so i'm going to keep them and watch the rare materials prices, then put them on EBay.

Yeah, those are what I've been running. Still got one fresh set in my track box. I was talking to one of the PFC techs early Spring and he wasn't sure what the replacement pad would be. He mentioned that some components couldn't be used any more. Perhaps it was due to cost, dunno, but at the time I took it to mean legislation. Hope the replacement is as good.

Does Pagid still make Black, Yellow, etc? Have they adjusted the formulation over the last few years? Brakes are for pussies anyway, i'm making my next pads myself out of a nice apple wood, smells great when it burns.

Funny, Porsche has made the 911 for 50 years and it's changed slightly but the name is the same.
