When I looked into a Stand21 suit, it was in the mid-2000s. I don't know if being in Canada affects pricing much.

I bought an OMP Evo One-S 3-layer suit which is also 235g/m, and is crazy light. I got it from Gruppe Werks (www.gruppewerks.com) and they gave me a really good deal on the suit. My teammate bought the Evo One suit, but it was a four layer suit using the same material, and is a replica of the Kimi Raikonnen suit (without all the badging of course), and it wasn't much more.

Site has prices .... Look under products

stand21

LoL Mooty ... That would be the dirt track racer version

Considering the pricing and quality the new OMP would be my choice.

My stand 21 was around $2500. But considering the comfort and the fact that my last suit was 8 yrs old it amortized out ok. You might get lucky and find a close out, scroll to the bottom for the porshe suits...

Caution though it is crazy expensive and designed to be worn with their underwear.

how does the airforce suit work? I see a pipe that enters the left but is there a distribution network of tubes to pipe air all around the body? Is it better than a "cool suit"?

I think the higher end Sparco suits are plenty comfortable and cool. Personally, I wouldn't spend Stand 21 type money on a suit unless money was no issue for me. It is so I wouldn't.

I picked up an Alpinestar on a closeout this year, think it was last year's GP Pro suit... wanna say it was also a 230gm suit... I was blown away by how much better it breathes than my old Sparco... too bad there's not much of a breeze in my cockpit! LOL

Still, weight reduction and cooling were an impressive step up...

You can count on spending close to $3K if you have a custom Heat Stress Control suit made. Slightly less if you can get a non-custom suit. Expensive, but do you REALLY want bargain-basement items for your safety needs? (Note, I am NOT denigrating any other manufacturer's products! I just don't understand the "I want the cheapest safety equipment I can find." mentality some folks have.)

I've got 2 stand 21 suits I could sell.
Both are heat stress control. Both are display models from a vendor who stopped selling stand 21 gear. Both have never been worn. Both manufactured 2009.
Model st221 red white blue black size 182 height 126 chest
Model st215 white purple yellow size 176 height 120 chest.
1000$ each obo
I have 2 stand 21's I use and they've been the best bar none.

The funny thing is I spend about the same for tailored business suits without blinking and they don't do anything in terms of saving my hide (save the occasional board meeting...)

Yes but there is a slight difference: With the business suit you pay money to make money.

Here's a great series of videos on how to size a suit.

One thing still perplexes me: Who buys a BLACK (or any dark colored) racing suit and why? If I'm going to spend a day at a hot track under a hot sun do I want to soak up all that sun heat into my body or reflect it away by wearing a light-colored preferably shiny suit (stains be damned)?
