Dedicated track car Boxster vs Cayman vs Miata
I track my 2011 C2S. HPDE's in PCA and NASA. It is also a DD.
I've got suspension mods, track wheels. It's a fantastic car on the track.
However, I am limited in what I can do with my car, because I am not going to gut the interior to reduce weight, or take out the heated and ventilated seats and put in race seats with harnesses, or put in a roll cage, or especially go door to door with other cars. But I want to do these things, so I need a dedicated track car that I can afford to walk away from in the event of an "event."
For the "walk away from" ability, I need to keep it cheaper. Also, I want to be able to participate in model specific race series and time trials, so I want to limit this question to Boxster, Cayman, Miata; I've also seen many happy people tracking Corvette's.
From reading tons of posts on all kinds of forums, I'm aware of the differences in costs: Cayman>Boxster>Miata.
Simple question: TO THOSE WHO HAVE RACED THESE CARS, which car would you choose if you did it all over again? And remember, I can DE the C2S when I want. Which of the above dedicated track cars have you enjoyed the most to go door to door with?
I know the opinions will be diverse, I just want to see what the experienced drivers' hindsights are.

You have listed three very different cars "walk away price-wise", what are your actual parameters? You will also need a trailer and a tow vehicle, are you figuring that in? You can find fully prepped Spec Boxsters in the $30Kish range, Cayman's more in the $40K+ range, and a Spec Miata can go from under $10K to well over $20K. Another good choice is an 80's 911 in D or E Stock trim, $25K and up..

Thanks for the responses guys, but did you read the post?
By dedicated track car, I mean not street legal; tow vehicle and trailer are required; I understand this. This is not the question.
By dedicated track car, I mean all required safety equipment is a given; seats, cage, nets, harness, fire suppresion, electrical cutoff… I understand this. This is not the question.
By dedicated track car, I mean I will not drive this on the street. This will not be a DD.
GTgears: you can shove the Manual up your a$$. That's not what I asked.
I meant: To those who have raced/tracked these cars, which do you prefer?
Is this too complicated?

wow......
just wow.....
yes, it's a very complex question, i had all three cars.
depends on who you want to race with, what region you are in. how much you want to spend, what kind of talent you have, how far upfront u want to run... the answer would be very different.
simple example
SM can be bought for 8000 all they way to $50,000. a $8000 will not win, unless you have some real talent.
BSR, same thing. 20k to 60k.
cayman all the way to 120k for new interseries cars.
how much can you afford to walk away from?
